The first thing to look at, is maybe the file is corrupted. Try copying the file to floppy again, and see what happens.

Thanks Joegz, for the pointers. The files are only word and excel, and are located on the network drive. If i copy the file from the network drive to a different location,it will open. pls keep supplying the advice, it helps to narrow down the issue. Also, hi to Dagose, if you manage to stumble...
