Hi
There is a Trojan which puts aouple of dozen shutdowns into the scheduled tasks list. I cannot remember the name but it does come in a popup window prior to shutdown.
If this is the problem then go to Scheduled Tasks and delete these tasks. Their names are short and stand out very clearly

I had a problem with AUTOEXEC.NT for a long time (XP Pro SP2), the file was being removed on a reboot. I took a copy from another pc and simply copied it each time the problem arose. I got a bit fedup doing this so I tried setting AUTOEXEC.NT to read only and bingo no further problems

Hello All
The PCMPC200 PC Card is SCO certified hardware for os5.0.7 - at last I thought a networked notebook running os5!
Can anyone suggest where I find the driver? It isn't listed in the default os5.0.7 LAN list and Linksys don't appear to have anything.

TruPort is a Stallion Technologies multiport system. We have tried killing, restarting, removing and adding with sacadm with no effect. Each box runs 16 serial ports and the problem is at the box level so pmadm won't help. The first stage is that the status of the TruPortn entry goes UNKNOWN...
Thanks JorGeVaL
The immediate problem with sac is solved by killing the sac pid. It then respawns and works normally.
The problem remaining is that we haven't managed to restart the TruPort entry which caused the sac problem in the first place. This still requires a reboot.

Another thing to think about. When converting from FAT32 to NTFS the cluster size is set to 2k and I don't think even Partition Magic can change this value. You have to format the partition to change it, when the default is 4k

Running unixware 7.1.1 with Stallion Easyserver/TruPort installed.
Having switched the easyserver units off/on a few times and then killing/restarting the TruPorts with sacadm I have finally ground to a halt.
# sacadm -l ... quite a long delay and then:-
# can not contact SAC
I am certain...
I am not certain why Brian needs this info but I posted something somewhat similar some time ago and got no response. We have applications which relate the port tty id to a screen attribute table entry (Thoroughbred apoplications). Our requirement is that if you have say 64 telnet logins...
In System Time Manager set Geographical area to 'Europe', European timezone to 'Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)' and Daylight savings to 'Yes'.
Your time should then display as BST. You may have to set the time again.

If it is a 905 series nic then you will probably need to add new drivers to both 5.0.4 and 5.0.5. I had this in early 2001 for the 905C-TX card, 5.0.6 was OK.

Not changed anything as far as I am aware. The same situation has occurred on another UW7 system as well That one is actually a NSC system and I didn't build it!
But as you say it is doing what I want.
Thanks again Tony

Thanks Tony
.profile does not exist in $HOME on my setup (UW7.1.1) - is this correct?
I have now created $HOME/.profile, extended the $PATH and it works OK

Hello everybody
This may be a stupid question but is there a .profile file when logged in as root - if so where is it?
Specifically I want /usr/local/bin to be added to PATH when I log in as root. This is easy in OS5 but I'm lost in UW7.

If your current backup requirement is ~500mB then it is likely to increase in size - that's computer nature!
I would definitely go for a scsi dat drive - 4Gb would give you plenty of slack. We have had odd problems with HP drives and always choose Seagate if possible, although immediate delivery...
You don't specify what version of SCO you are using. If it 3.2.4 and the Adaptec controller is a 2940 I think you will have to import the drivers, 3.2.4 only has 'ad' and you need 'alad'. Openserver 5.x/Unixware 7 are OK.

Hello everbody,
When I telnet into uw7 I get a new port no each time:
pts001, pts002 etc.
I assume this will return to 000 or 001 when it reaches 999, but otherwise it is only reset when the m/c is rebooted, which should be never. In os5 the ports ttyp0, ttyp1 etc are re-used after logging...
