    Digital Camera Compatability with XP?

Does the camera show up as a removable drive or not? I never saw an answer to that question in any of the posts. This would seem to be a key point to me as far as a camera vs O/S issue. Jimi_l

    Digital Camera Compatability with XP?

I think rj is correct. My Fuji sometimes(rarely)displays similar behavior. If the camers IS showing up in "my computer" as a removable drive then just open it and and take the pictures from there.Copy and paste or drag and drop to wherever you need them.If it is NOT showing up I would...

    Network moron

Right you are(as I later learned). You have to let the router handle all the pppoe stuff. Thanks man-star 4 u Jimi_l(aka malepipe)

Is there a personal server in windows xp home?

XP(Home or Pro)does not support WPS(Windows Personal Server). This according to the MSKB. You can install another O/S and it will work fine as long as they are on seperate partitions. You should ideally install the older O/S first!!Otherwise you will need a third party boot manager to utilize...

    Network moron

Ok, So I'm NOT so bright after all.I bought a linksys BEFSR4 Cable DSL 4-Port Router.I figured set-up would be a snap, and it was (as long as you don't mind having no internet connection)! Running XP Pro/Win ME on a dual boot set up Verizon DSL w/Netgear NIC and Westell Modem(white one) Dynamic...

Minimum files needed in msconfig startup?

Explorer and Systray are the only two Windows needs to start. There are some others needed if you want system restore to work properly. With thoes enabled, the best boot time I personally have seen is about 30 sec from the "ME" splash screen to actual functionality(not just the desktop)...

My pooter turns itself on... and its creepin me out

I think some Viri can also do this. Was your Xp install a "clean" one or an upgrade? Have a free scan from here>> http://housecall.antivirus.com/ BTW WAL is Wake(up)on Lan meaning if the network is accessed it will activate the other PC's. Jimi_l(AKA Malepipe)

Very slow boot with new 256MB SDRAM

Actually an easier way is to count the segments.ECC has an ODD number and NON-ECC has an EVEN number. Jimi_l(AKA Malepipe)

    xp trouble

I'm not being "flip" here, but rather curious. Why would anything need two soundcards? If it is a lack of ports out surely there must be a special card that has more or a splitter of some type.If two MUST be used I would suggest that two identical cards would be the best choice.Two...

    deciding to go with XP

Although I dont work in the IT dept at work, I am very good friends with the Sys Admin. He claims (if I understand this correctly AND I MAY NOT!!) that the licensing issue, in regards to XP and an office enviroment is one GIANT pain in the tookus!! We have 50 licenses, lets say for arguements sake...

    Partitioning suggestions

IMHO Messing with the swap file is quite possibly THE single biggest waste of time there is. This is SOOOOOO overrated and all the machines I have ever tried it on see no improvement at all.I realize this is a debateable point but I have yet to read a single article, or see a single benchmark...

    Partitioning suggestions

At work they(the IT guys) have reported several total losses. In an office of about 25 PC's they report about 8-10 sudden and total losses in 8 yrs.Certain drives trend to be more suseptable than others.Western Digital and Maxtor being the best,IBM and Seagate being the worst. This is THEIR...

    log out user "hangs" system

I just noticed that if I log out another user as opposed to just switching users, it will hang the system to the point of actually having to kill the power. Any ideas on this one? Jimi_l

Net work 2 computers on roadrunner

I searched for a linksys 4 port and found a new one for $89 and a $10 rebate at Comp USA,that was a cheap as I could find.I bought one(there were a bunch)at Ebay for $66+$10 priority shipping. Jimi_l(AKA Malepipe)

    Partitioning suggestions

I PERSONALLY would make 2. One O/S and one everything else.If you need real backup get another drive or backup to CDRW as just a partition isn't gaining you much. NFTS is a pain in the heiny,go with FAT32. my .02 Jimi_l(AKA Malepipe)

Very slow boot with new 256MB SDRAM

I had the same problem and never found a fix sans one.Buy all identical 128mhz segments and it was fine.I tried 3 different mfg and every combo I could think of but it never worked out. Jimi_l(AKA Malepipe)

A network connection window comes up every time I turn on my computer

The best advice I can give you is to dump AOL. I REALLY REALLY hate them.Unless your into crappy overpriced connections and tons of junk mail and telemarketers!! That aside it's your AOL instant messenger trying to log on.This can be hard to kill without also killing you internet access.I dont...
