So as posted in the thread below I decided it would be FUN to try and build my own switch box. One that would include vidseo, USB, and audio lines.
Who needs PS/2 keyboard connectors anyway. But I realized that there might be some electronics involved, like a resistor to squelch an overload...
Just realized I left out two important things: audio and video.
So now I realize that I need a 3 -4 port A/B/ switch. Which will need to involved
Video,
USB,
Audio Jack Out
Audio Jack In
Does such a beast exist? Or do I have to go to radioshack and build one (ugh)
Many thnaks
Actually just needed the USB and Video ones, and according to mforrence I feel comfortable with my liomits.
Now I just need to find a reliable A/B/C switch box that houses VGA and USB
Can find a million online, but recommendations woudl be great!
So I am "daydreaming" of building a bench where I can place my 3 laptops, and then wire everything over to my desk where I'll have my 3 - 4 A/B switch box connected to my BEST Keyboard, BEST monitor, and a few USB ports as well.
My problem in searching online is that I get so many conflicting...
Again, it's not a deleted file. Let me put it another way, and maybe someone can help me in another way....
am looking for lost info. FIles lopng dleted etc. But since this machine has bearely been used, it's posssible the data is sitting in an a now UNused part of the HD. Unused, but...
A sure there's an app out there for this, just can't find it. Would like to search the entire harddrive for data that matches a few patters: A partial name, number, areacode, etc.
Then show me the data next to it.
Surely such an app exists?
If so, would love to know about it.
Many thanks...
Yes, please take my word....with every tool on the machine,at boot up, Spinrite, etc.
Windows definitely needs repairing of some file.
So is simpler to spend the $$$ to buy a retail copy of Windows to run a 'Repair' install, or should I try thre cheaper more painful idea I mentioned above...
The main part is I cannot open Windows Live Mail due to the corruption. It appears that you CANNOT copy over contaccts or rules, you need to open WLM and do an export....
Sorry for the lack of info, and for time it took me to reply, the holiday season is rough on a bartender.
In another life I was a techie/programmer...so while I am a partial idiot, I know just enough to know what to do, etc. I don't have the other laptop with me here, or I would honestly run...
Ok, I have a corrupted Win 7 laptop. Have run SpinRite (no HD failures), and the recovery tool ALWAYS fails.
So I bought a recovery DVD from the manufaturer, except it ONLY reformats the other drive, the don't offer sending me am OEM Windows CD.
It's probably cheaper to just buy a retail CD...
Thanks. Am not sure of the version, nor do I have access to all the manuals.
Anyone know if manually changing it in the ini file is dangerous? Or is this something that should only be changed in the GUI?
If via GUI, any idea of the module name to change it?
Again, sorry to be so vague, I...
Thanks for the reply.
If I may ask a follow up:
If set to 1 or more, does that mean after a few times of having to use the modem, will it still (and always) retry the Internet?
Any idea why after awhile the modem starts to fail as well?
Thanks again
Hello All,
I may have posted this here before, but got a new laptop, so clueless. In a nutshell:
*Am a ex-programmer and techie
*Our aloha system once in a while can't connect to our CC processor via DSL so it switches to modem
*It won't go back to DSL till a reboot, or EOD, which I...
