Dell laptops have no end user Bios PW reset capability. The only way to unlock them is to get the master password from Dell mobile support. They will want you to prove that you are the rightfull owner before they'll give you the PW. I have read about some 3rd partys that can also crack the PW...
There is no included GWBASIC interpreter in Windows 2000/XP so they won't run. I'm sure there are some third party or shareware work arounds but I'm not aware of them....
Every OS has a certian amount of overhead associated with the format. This includes file allocation tables etc. Windows 2000 uses the NTFS file system who's FAT tables contain extended attributes for indexing, servers, security, etc. This makes NTFS worse than most in this regard....
All DELL Laptop bios updates create a bootable floppy disk. The machine MUST be re-booted using this disk in order to update the bios. You CANNOT update your bios from within Windows....
