Correct. Which is why I wanted to upgrade. 4.1 sees the phones as a lesser model and as such you can only access/program 4 external lines and a few of the phone buttons are unusable. So I upgraded to 6.1 to take full advantage of the phones...
Cook, I was trying to finish off everything before I posted my results back to this thread (hate when people answer their own question but never finish the thread ;-) ).
In the case of the inbound lines, I think it was a problem with the handsets not being in group 1, once I assigned them to...
Ok, I believe I have solved this issue except for one annoyance. If a call is in progress and the internal side hangs up, there is a long delay between that and the external user getting disconnected. The side-effect of this is that if someone picks up the line which now shows as 'not in use'...
Cook, I believe I have already assigned the lines to the phones. For example, on any given phone I can press a line number and I'll hear the dial tone of that particular line and be able to make an outbound call...
So I don't think that is the problem.
BTW, as you may have guessed, I'm very green to PBX setup, I have inherited this system from others. During initial startup, I set the Template mode to PBX (I honestly don't know what the old setting was).
We have 8 inbound time warner digital phone lines coming into the PBX. None of the...
Folks,
I need some urgent help. After an outage our CICS 6.1 system has been completely reset. I've done my best to go through the manual going through the system startup and configuration. But here's my problem:
Outbound is fine, all extensions can pick up one of the 8 external lines and...
Its ok, I found the answer. For anyone else in the same boat, the CICS 4.1 software will not correctly identify the T7316E models, it'll identify them as T7310 which is why the button programming is all messed up for me.
CICS software version 6.1 is the first version that supports this model...
Folks,
I have a Norstar CICS running version 4.1. We have just resurrected it for a new building move recently carried out. I have a problem, currently the system thinks we are using 7310 handsets (got this from maintenance->port status) but in fact we have the 7316E models. Because of this, I...
Folks, I solved my problem. My serial cable was bad. Once I managed to find a new cable (hard to find in stores anymore) I was able to connect to the device and see that it was not picking up its config properly. From there, I was able to manually reconfigure it and after a reboot, the CICS and...
Thanks for responding cook, I was starting to feel all alone ;-) I had already performed the XFTEST and removed all the features. There are none listed now even after a restart of the CP.
Can someone help? Again, using hyperterminal (windows XP) or putty, connecting over 9600, 8, N, with or without hardware control (which some forum accounts differ on) I get jibberish spit out to my screen. If I can even fix the serial port issue I'm confident I can fix the configuration.
folks,
I wanted to give you all some more information:
1) I am using the 8v adapter so I don't think its a power issue like I've seen in most of the other posts...
2) using the connection thread at: http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=5226 I've attempted to connect to the device via serial...
Folks,
I just installed a CallPilot 100 onto our pre-existing CICS system. I simply wired in the CallPilot ports A & B into existing extensions on the CICS and everything worked. The CallPilot booted, the A & B lights stayed lit and after connecting the CallPilot to my network, I was able to...
oldestgeek, when I originally programmed the PBX I made sure that the trunks were set to disconnection supervision "yes".
To close out this issue for folks, TimeWarner finally came and swapped out the VoIP box and behold! My lines have been active without incident for 48 hours now.
thanks...
So we're clear, you are asking me to wait until the situation reoccurs (the lines seem to be dead) and then check for an analog line from the digital time warner device. That would tell me that the time warner device has indeed shut off the lines. I will try that in the morning when I expect the...
Yes I believe it is a digital box with analog outputs but I don't understand what you mean by 'resetting test at demarcation' - unfortunately I am absolutely new at this having inherited this problem from an ex IT staff member...
Hi all,
We have an older Nortel Norstar CICS system installed in a building with TimeWarner Digital phone service acting as the outbound/inbound carrier. The Nortel Norstar box was a moved installation (was at an old building that was unused for a number of years) and the time warner service...
