Thank you! The new system is a R6, licensed for 4 analog trunks and 12 digital sets. I guess I will just program up this new one to use, and give up on the broken one for now.
Thanks for the information on the LEDs, that is helpful.
Please keep your fingers and eyes crossed for me!
I have a BCM50 that has failed. Symptoms are on a reboot, phones flash some of their buttons, nothing is displayed on the phones. There is no backup of the system, as it was aquired when they bought the building and have happily used it for the past few years without issue.
I purchased a...
I have a Polycom VVX410 phone that apparently has a Skype license on it. I am unable to register it on two different SIP phone systems. I'm guessing I need to remove that license, but have not found a way to remove it in the phone, or to totally disable. Looking for any suggestions that...
The Polycom's are downloading the directory information from the sipxecs system. You can import the directory to the system, I suspect that is what you are seeing. Check Features/Phonebook most likely.
Actually, this is not a totally proprietary system, but one based on Open Standards. The Polycom's use TFTP to download the firmware to the phones. It uses Polycom's standard Username and password to grab the files also.
The issue that commonly happens is people open the ZIP file and try to...
Try the SIPFoundry sipXecs software. It works great. In a few months, it will have DimDim in it as well, so you can do audio and web conferencing. Also, it will have xmpp integrated, so you will have chat incorporated.
too bad you couldn't insert a tty program that logged all his keystrokes, and them route them to a blog. You might have a new hit blog site.
I see it now, ToWatchAThief.com
If nothing else, I'd leave him alone, and create a new blog about this adventure. it might be worth more money than the...
Nobody stated Hosted VOIP. Just Voip.
A point that was being made was that there may be others issues to overcome in this system if you point them out. Utilizing low cost SIP trunks could be a benefit to some customers.
Advanced features in newer voicemail systems that are not supported by...
Can you give some better details as to what you are talking about. Sensitive to Noise? Are you saying on a phone call, the phones are sensitive to background noice, echo, clipping, or what?
How are the T-1's terminated. Does Paetec provide the termination to an IAD, or do you terminate them...
How about replace the entire Norstar with a VOIP solution, use the lower trunk cost to justify the change out, and then provide a wireless connection and a IP phone at your guard shack. A couple fine tuned antenna's should get you there with certainty.
All this time wasted on a simple...
Some self education on the Cat6 standards will help you look for issues that the electricians left at your installation. Did they strip the cables too far back, did they untwist cables excessively, did they since tie-wraps up around cables to make them look nice, did they exceed bend radius...
Yep, thats the original. I remember working as a contractor to one of the local telephone companies. They had not discovered them yet, and used to call us to help them trace cables quicker. Nice paying work to just go out and trace cables for the telco. The contractor we worked for gave us...
In the early days of the RJ standards, phones actually shipped with color coded tips on their cords - blue had two connectors in them on pins 3&4, and a two conductor cord. There was also a 4 conductor cord, with 4 pins on 2-5 and an orange tip on them. A six conductor cord had a green tip on...
IF you can find a miliwatt tone, rather than a simple toner, you will get a much louder signal out of it.
The old style probes were much better at picking up the signals, you used to be able to trace them through the walls and ceilings by attaching a butt set to them. I think we called them...
One point that is being missed in this discussion is the whole notion of structured cabling. The EIA/TIA specs last I looked (10 plus years ago) specified two Cat 5 cables to each drop location. This allowed for the use of Voice, Data and Video.
Cat 5 specs allow for data transmission up to...
Any thoughts to just trading that old unit in for a replacement. YOu probably will find a new UPS is more efficient these days and will actually require less commercial power, and will most likely have better specificiations.
Eight years is a long time for technology changes.
That Eaton unit...
If you are using an Eaton Powerware, or an Eaton MGE, you can build batch files to control the order of turnup of each individual plug on the box. It's a key differentiator between the Eaton products and the APC's.
It's a great feature for servers, as you can do a controlled shutdown, and a...
SIP is a protocol that has its own unique requirements. A simple To and From with IP addresses and phone numbers, if that is what you are saying is not going to get the job done for you, as its not supporting the SIP protocol.
There are SIP clients you can add to your computer, that will...
I would agree, more information is needed.
Have you tried dialing out on at least one of them with analog phone or butt set to see if you can dial out on the trunks. This eliminates a trunk issue.
If trunks work, then you are down to the hardware either having an issue, or programming. I'd...
How about feeding it to an analog terminal adapter to a fax machine that has email built into it? let the Fax machine send it out as an email via a network connection.
Or, you could front end that box with a Media Gateway, allowing for SIP trunks rather than a standard PRI- the cost savings on...
