The answer:
The server we had migrated from was interfering with the metabase for some reason.
When we took the legacy server down, and recreated the profiles for the users that were having problems the mailboxes were repaired.
Hi,
Having done a migration of SBS2K3 to new hardware we have a problem with our OST files.
Some users who have created sub-folders in their inbox have "lost" their subfolders. Scanost & mfcmapi displays that the users mailbox has 2 Inbox folders (one of which has the "lost" subfolders), 2...
My plan is this:-
I have Esxi runing on a Dell box.
I have installed Debian etch as a VM.
I would like the Etch VM to collect my POP3 mail from my ISP ( 1 mail address with 5 aliases)and store it for collection.
I would then like to collect the POP3 mail (stored in Maildir?) from the Etch VM...
Re thread1584-1515935
It seems that mapping shares by IP address instead of by name is a lot more stable when moving files between Mac OS X and Small Business Server 2003.
Well, it's working for us so far, 1 week and no crashes.
Hope this works for you...
Many thanks to eugenetyson for the...
I'm baaack...
Ok, so problem 1 solved (?) now, randomly, assorted InDesign crashes when trying to import Illustrator .eps files.
So, voila 1x40 page .indd file. Some .eps files will import but others crash InDesign.
We have tried "saving down" to CS2 .eps but that doesn't work, yet if we save...
We are hoping that by re-installing that if we need to FILE>PACKAGE InDesign won't keep crashing on us. We can't play with it too much as the GD is now so far behind schedule she won't let us near her machine while it is working.
Thanks again for all your input.
Hi again,
Your understanding is spot on. After much agonising over the problem we deduced that, having already re-establishing the links and copying the problematic .indd file to the local drive that there had to be a corruption within the system itself. Rather than spend more time on...
Many thanks eugenetyson,
We tried the packaging process but InDesign kept crashing,
we therefore copied the .indd file across to the desktop and performed the re-linking as you described to the files located on the network.
It would be impossible to re-locate all the linked images due the the...
Thanks all,
We are now saving to the desktop instead of the network share, seems that is the only (?) way to bypass the connection errors.
Still having major problems with InDesign tho'. I have moved the issue to the relevant forum before the mods move it :)

Our GD is pulling her hair out. I think this started with some or other update when her InDesign, which had been working fine, started erroring with "Network connection interrupted..." messages and going into Autorecover loops.
Running InDesign 5.0 on her Mac OSX 10.4.11 would crash, when...
Many thanks mofusjtf.
Oddly the other CS3 apps work fine. Only InDesign is causing (much) pain.
Now, changes made under InDesign are randomly "lost" even though we are saving to the desktop, ie some changes are being saved and some not.
I don't want to go off topic so I won't go into too much...
Hi,
Thank you for the suggestions gentlemen but deeper investigation suggests there are potentially 2 errors and we need to solve the Adobe Indesign issue first to see whether that is the primary problem.
Will let you know...
Good morning,
Hope this is the right forum, if not please accept my apologies.
My problem involves a mac running osx 10.4 tiger patched to the hilt.
Prob 1) The mac keeps "losing" permissions to the SB server ie. mac is reading and writing perfectly then randomly and occasionally the user...
Hi,
If you are using XP SP2 it could be a Disk Caching issue in which case open explorer > rt-click your hard-disk > select properties > hardware > select hard disk > properties.
Select "Policies"
Clear "Enable write caching" > OK >OK.
Repeat for each drive (if more than one)
Also check...
Hi Scwaal,
Do you have lots of free drive space on the machines acting as your print servers ?
Not enough free space will freeze the spool service.
