apart from "don't remove it" while using it, could i use it for a swap file? is it not too slow, or would it be soon damaged? I don't know the latency/response times, etc, it would also interest me how it is built.

it is also possible that previously, you have changed a .bat file, it was backed up as a .bak file, and somehow its atributes were changed. this might have affected your acces to notepad - you could check the situation with your file attributes ... you could also try running the suspect .bat in...
