The reason that the SP6 is not installing is that genrally when you run a SP it exctracts data in to your temp folder first therefore decreasing the amount of free space you actually have.
The easiest way to do this is through Active directory.
OPen active directory users and computers then select the user account that you want to forward email from.
Can't remeber the exact name of the tab i think its exchange general you should have a screen with 3 buttons one of them lets you...
I don't think its DNS i can ping by Machine name and IP from the client and have even created and alias for it in DNS and can ping that also!

You would then just have to reimport them afterwards!
Have a look at this link may be of help contains info on the errors you are reporting!

My personal preferance would be to turn circular logging off because you can restore data right up to the point of failure if you do.
straight from ms site when you do a backup the transaction logs are removed see below!
Use the Windows NT Backup utility that ships with Exchange Server to...
Completely up to you!
Circular logging just overites the logs when it gets to a certain size as i recall although i think you can tell it not to overwrite these logs until there backed up.
The advantage of these logs is you can restore your public and private databases from them right up...

Have you checked that all the service that the SA depend on are started?
