I have just installed exchange server on a pc which is a DC in AD however when i go outlook and set up the exchange server settings with username, domain name and password i get the following error:- The name could not be resolved.
The name could not be matched to a anme in the address list.

Any ideas on how to resolve this

Thanks

Peter

The client running outlook is having name resolution problems. Check that they can see the DNS and WINS correctly. Which version of Outlook?

I don't think its DNS i can ping by Machine name and IP from the client and have even created and alias for it in DNS and can ping that also!

Whats more I have installed outlook straight onto the exchange server and still can't log in!

The version of outlook is outlook 2000! And server is E2k

Thanks

Peter

You don't have a GAL. Check Address Lists in ESM and make sure when you preview you see users. If not you might have the RUS configured incorrectly. Dan

Problem has been resolved I did have GAL but when i tried refreshing this caused error so restarted the global cat server and exchange and all is ok now

Thanks
