I am running Linux SLES8 on a Sunfire V40 server with SCSI harddisks configured for h/w RAID1.
But my problem is that currently the only way I can check the health status of the server and especially the harddisks is by inspecting the server manually - looking for red LEDs telling me that...
I am running SUN EBS / Networker 7.3.2 on my backup system consisting of a server and a autochanger tape system.
But I have problems labelling the tapes I tried both from the Management Console and using the nsrjb
command.
The correct tape seems to be mounted and can be
read (it says there is...
It appeared that latest.zip was not compatible with running f-secure on a stand alone off-line host.
fsdbupdate should be downloaded and run manually instead.
And then the on-line awareness of the f-secure configuration files should be disabled (i.e. #'ed out).
This made the update possible.
I run F-secure Linux Srever Security v5.52 6200 on a server wich is not connected to the internet.
Since I can not use the automatic update feature I will need to manually download the latest.zip file and update the virus definition databses manually.
But here comes my problem.

Thank you once again - It worked!
- I stopped networker
- Then I installed the server package (and the packages it depended on)
- Then to make sure to get a clean baseline I de-installed all legato packages and removed the /nsr directory
- Then I installed the lgtoclnt-7.2-1 and lgtoman-7.2-1...
Thanks 605,
I understand the problem a little better now but I suspect that I somehaow have a 'zombie' legato server installed on this machine.

lgtoman-7.2-1
I had hoped that it would appear...
I have a Legato Networker backup system running in the following configuration:
One Linux backup server with both Legato Networker server and client RPMs installed.
And 8 Linux client machines with only the Legato clients installed.
My problem is that one of the client machines insists on...
I just succeded in executing a manual backup on one of the clients. I simple typed 'save' in a system shell.
It worked fine. I monitored the process from nwadmin GUI on the backupserver and in the /nsr/logs/daemon.log.
Seems to me that communication from client to server workes fine and that...
Thanks Rifr123,
I just tried rpcinfo from bck server to both the client that worked and the one that didn't work (and vice versa) - but the results seemed very semilar and looked like communication between hosts was possible.
Thanks 605,
An interesting suggestion, but can you please tell me how...
I am running the Legato Networker 7.2 backup software in an environment where some of the clients are connected directly on the same LAN as the backupserver and other clients sits on another LAN and can only reach/be reached by the backupserver via a route through a host acting as a gateway...
Im am configuring Legato Networker 7.2 on a system with several servers and workstations.
Some of the servers have Oracle databases runnning and I am interested in getting the database shutdown before starting the backup and started up again after the backup has finished.
I imagine something...
