Ack, I found it. I setup Security Filtering to allow everyone access and setup WMI filtering to specify the computer. Then add the file to the logon script and it works.
How can I run a logon script when any user logs into a specific server? I have a batch file that updates the background with some server information and I would like it to run on the servers when anyone logs in.
This is for a Windows 2003 active directory domain. I am trying to use group...
By ntp commands do you mean 'net time /setsntp'?
C:\Documents and Settings\faxsr>net time /setsntp:spb-dc1
The command completed successfully.
C:\Documents and Settings\faxsr>net time /querysntp
The current SNTP value is: spb-dc1
The command completed successfully.

I already have my primary (pdc-emulator) DC setup to sync externally to a time server and it works fine. Most internal hosts (pc's and servers) can sync to the primary DC.
We started seeing this with the new client. If a user is connected and minimized, when you try to remote control their screen it goes black. Only way to recover is to log them off the server.
Sorry, didn't mean to break protocol, I'm just frustrated with this issue. There's not much in the search engines beyond running the w32tm commands to fix this.
Here's what I've tried so far (in no particular order):
Reset the registry keys
Imported a working set from another server
Manually...
An update. Support finally provided an updated TAPECOPY command to try. Unfortunately, I could not leave the data on disk this long, so I have no idea if it works or not. Thanks, CA, your response time is amazing. I'm going to test other options this year and migrate to something better for my...
Must you absolutely use the same name? I would recommend bringing the 2nd DC online, moving all the roles to it, then demoting the current DC. Much less fuss.
Yeah, I've been bitten by that XP Home feature too. Tried to get a remote user to access network shares over a vpn. After about 3 hours at her house, it struck me that she was using XP Home. An upgrade later and happy user, happy tech.
If all your DC's are in the same domain, it will replicate AD between them, even in different sites.
For file replication, it will replicate files in the sysvol share, but will not replicate other shares. You would need to manually update the users drive mappings and you would need to automate...
You didn't mention how your users were accessing their email. You can change the client options to leave email on the server, but you have to trust they will not monkey with the config and start pulling email and deleting it from the server. I would set the secondary email domain to forward to...
If you have 4 dc's that are in separate domains, I don't think they can back each other up. Each domain will have it's own AD. If they were all in the same domain, then you can set each to be a global catalog (to process user logins) and they will automatically replicate with each other.
You should run the full backup once a week and run incrementals the rest of the weekdays. Your full backup will give you a snapshot for that day and incrementals will show the changes since then.
If it's the only domain controller in the domain, you will need to demote it. Open a command prompt and run dcpromo.
If it's a member server, you will need to be logged in as a domain administrator to remove it from the domain.
I have 2 sites with 2 DC's in each site. The primary site has our pdc emulator (spb-dc1) and another DC (spb-dc2). The secondary site has 2 DC's (rev_thh, mailnorth). spb-dc2 and rev_thh (plus some other 2003 servers) will not sync to spb-dc1 (pdc). I have spb-dc1 set as the authoritative time...
