I think your both in the right area as there is something funny going on when logging in. The strange bit is, it only happens on one Pc. If they log into another one they have no problems.
But I'll check out this area and see what I can find.

We are using roaming profiles and on one XP desktop when logging in a message pops up saying:
Windows cannot find /idlist,:188:3608,H:\. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again.
Any ideas?
We are running our servers on Windows 2000 and using roaming profiles. Our users are on XP and using Outlook XP or 2000.
Far too regularly the profile will load and Outlook will be unable to open. No amount of trying to reload it works and the only option is to delete the user's profile and then...
One of our users needs to constantly send word documents back and forth between a client who is using Groupwise. When the attachment turns up from this client its title has been changed to a series of characters/letters ie Important.Doc changed to 15x6p16_.Doc. If this is then saved straight to...
Freestone,
no - I haven't tried it yet. The star is for it being "helpful" as its something I haven't tried yet.
2 stars if it does work though.
Steve
Damned if I haven't looked in there. I'll check on it tonight and hopefully it will be the problem. I'll post a reply tomorrow.
At least my "helpful post star" is working again.
Cheers

I'm afraid not Greg. The system reports no problems and everything is enabled for use and running correctly according to Device Manager. In "Sounds.." everything is ticked for USE as well. Initially on reboot after the restore under sounds in the Device Manager a windows wdm device...
After a recent system restore on an HP Pavilion, everything came back as it should, apart from the system will not recognise that I have an onboard soundcard running Avance97 drivers. All the drivers load, but in "Sounds and Audio" it says there is no audio device under volume or sound...
After recently updating a Geforce 4 MX-420 graphics card with the latest drivers, when I now go into the GeForce setup via desktop > properties > settings > advanced, I receive a "Run a DLL as an App" error attributed to Rundll32.exe.
This seems to be the only time the error appears...
When I'm browsing the internet using IE6 on my XP laptop, I've started to get a message saying:
Shutdown initiated by NT Authority/System.
Then after 30 seconds my whole laptop shuts down.
All my settings for my ISP and dial up connection seem ok.
Any ideas.

I don't seem to be able to get contextless login to work with new users anymore. Nothing has really been changed on the network apart from a couple of containers being renamed. Now, everytime we add a new user into NDS, contextless login doesn't work for them. However it still works for the...
We have an NT4 server which every month or so displays a user32.dll error. This does not prevent the server working, but you cannot access control panel, Administrative tools etc. We have all the latest service packs and hotfixes on, but it still keeps doing it.
Anybody had a similar problem...
Your probably right.
We've since installed 4.83SP1 with just the default ticked and had no problems whatsoever.
Ah well, we live and learn!
Cheers Again.
(Can't remember the original problem now).
