    Macola ES over VPN

Remote desktop will provide better performance. Additional bandwidth will not necessarily address latency issues.

Macola issue when opening 2 companies

I am very surprised by this. We have a number of people that routinely have two companies open simultaneously. That includes me for some system tasks and I do run processes concurrently on two different databases. Primarily this occurs in Purchasing and Accounting. It does not occur in Order...

Macola ES Excel Add-In and recent MS critical update

There are documents on the customer portal for this issue: doc # 23.302.386 for Macola ES https://customers.exact.com/docs/DocView.aspx?DocumentID={38e2433d-cff3-43f6-b1b8-e8961aa8c85c} It quotes a different KB #, but the two look very similar. I'm waiting on a call back to see how this...

How important are Reset Allocations and Q-O-O to database maintenance?

Since the changes to Transit Inventory and that inventory impacting both allocation and on order quantities, we have seen an increase in the number of variances in these numbers. (I am somewhat responsible for that one!) In the past these variances were the result of messy PO changes and/or...

    Slowness Printing Customer Statements

Last spring we upgraded to SQL 2005 (Version 9.00.5057.00) that is SP 4 with a few updates.

    Slowness Printing Customer Statements

I am actually seeing something very similar on my ES 9.5.300. Printing statements takes hours. I believe that there are other issues impacting the indexes on customer tables. I have not yet spent time doing traces etc. Don, do your comments (arcusfil & aropnfil) apply to ES as well?

Getting a Month End Qty from ImInvTrx file

I STRONGLY recommend the "Beginning Balance Records" as Don suggests. If you build the reports as NEmacGuy and I have done, those records (source = 'B') AND (doc_type = 'H') provide a monthly number to reconcile against.

    Inventory Team Personel

As an IS Manager that manages the physical inventory count process company wide, I thought that I would speak on this issue. I took over this task from the financial controller when Macola was implemented over three years ago. At that time, it made sense due to the changes in procedures and...

    Update to 9.5.200

Peter, Did you install 9.5.200? Or did this problem present with the 9.5.300 upgrade. I did my 9.5.300 upgrade two weeks ago and did not have these issues. However the only Office app that is installed on the Terminal Servers is MS Outlook 2003 SP3. The OS is Windows Server 2003 SP2. Jay

    Update to 9.5.200

Klaus, "I heard of several cases where the 200 client installation caused corruption on the workstation and the only solution was to rebuild." Do any of these issues occur on a terminal server? I am (was) planning this upgrade for Nov. 8. I don't want to have to rebuild my terminal servers...

    Odd Vendor Report Behaviour

Don, I have confirmed the behaviour with another 'numeric' vendor account. Now that I can duplicate it, I will report it. One more for the big black binder! Jay

    Odd Vendor Report Behaviour

Peter, I added the company names above to answer your question. I also followed up on the name of the 122947 company. It does start with the "2" that is used in the search. It had occurred to me that this might be an issue, but I choose not to believe it. Now, this baffles the heck out of...

    Odd Vendor Report Behaviour

Don, here it is... (please read the next post too!) My target data: cmp_name Char(50) "TIERRA SOL CERAMIC TILE INC. " cmp_code Char(20) “ 2” That is a 2 prefixed with 19 spaces crdnr Char(6) “ 2” Prefixed with 5 spaces crdcode Varchar(20)...

    Odd Vendor Report Behaviour

Don, I did not think of that one! Unfortunately the "2" still does not stick. Tabbing off the field or clicking 'start' replaces the value.

    Odd Vendor Report Behaviour

OK, that one is a new trick for me, Thank-you. It seems this query is built after clicking start on the report filter screen. So the query includes the clause: WHERE ... (A.CreditorNumber BETWEEN '122947' AND '122947') Again I tried to use "2" as the vendor number. So my issue is right up...

    Odd Vendor Report Behaviour

Thanks Peter, This is one of the first things that I looked at. (we are out of sync on Customer numbers) We are Alpha, not numeric. The data is the same with the exception of the padded spacing that we get with the Alpha records. cmp_code crdnr crdcode cmp_type 2 2 2 S 122947...

    Odd Vendor Report Behaviour

This is in our Macola ES 372 environment, I have confirmed the behaviour on our test ES 9.5.100 box. On both the A/P check register and pre check writing report there are lookups for Vendor number. When I try to run this for my vendor '2' it gets replaced with '122947' (Vedors 1 & 2 are...

Future of the Macola Product Line ?

Interesting, GLOBE does exist as a product from Exact 'worldwide', it has a significant install base. So, what you are refereing to is both the North American 'Localized' verision and the conversion/migration tools to get there. I can accept that those are "works in progress". I certainly...
