Thanks for the response. You have to administer your users/permissions, right? Isnt that a pain? For example, an adult site which may have thousands of members, who want to administer all those permissions?

Well, I answered my own question. On the exact same hardware I rebuilt NT server with service pack 4 this time(was using SP 5) and installed IE 4.01 with SP1 and MDAC 2.0 with sp1 and SMS runs just fine. Hope that helps others out there.
