    No,The service required light does not go on and the firmware level is 1.35.112. We have found that these are tapes that were written up to about 8 years ago and it could be firmware at the time was low so there may well be a compatability issue. Hopefully this will go away in a couple of months...

    Has anyone seen 9840 drives going into Maintenance Mode when the problem is NOT Connectivity or the drive. I am strongly suspecting bad media as the customer is reading old tapes. This has occurred numerous times on RTD drives and each drive I have tested has tested clean.
