Server indicating more space taken up than there actually is

I found the culprit. It's the System Volume Information (system folder on the root drive). I adjusted the maxsize of the system restore storage (by using the vssadmin command) and cleared up a lot of data. Thanks,

Server indicating more space taken up than there actually is

I have a Windows 2003 server with a Raid-5 (6x146gb) split into 2 partitions. The D drive is 370GB usable space and when I look at My Computer or look at the properties of the drive, it indicates it's using 120 GB of space. I've ran several utilities and the most I'm getting is 20 GB of used...

    Ideal FTP/Web Server Setup

Hello, I've tried searching, but haven't really found my answer. I have an opportunity to replace an old FTP solution at my job. It's one server currently serving as the FTP and web server. I am looking to create a static image cluster solution to push other image content from our other...

    XP Pro Installation problem

Nevermind guys, I got it to work. Seems like there was something funky for me by pressing F12 rather than going into the BIOS and configuring it to read the CD drive first. Thanks anyways guys. Happy Holidays!

    XP Pro Installation problem

Ok guys, you have always been able to help me so hopefully you can again! My dad's laptop kept having the genuine popup come up (a legit copy of XP home) so I thought I'd reformat with an image I have at work that bypasses the genuine activation (I tried using Microsofts verification, but that...

    Folder Restrictions/Security

Ok, so I'm an idiot for doing this in the first place, but I wanted to set folder restrictions on the Guest account in Windows XP Pro SP2, but I accidentally set it on the Administrative account also. I have 2 harddrives: the C drive which holds Windows XP and programs and my D drive which holds...

    Folder crashing

@bcastner, the patch worked. Thanks a lot guys. I thought I would have to backup my data and then reformat and that would've took a long time.

    Folder crashing

@linney, I don't think the System Restore would work as I reformatted the computer and that's when the problem arised. I haven't tried booting in safe mode. I don't have any different users other than my own. @bcastner, this problem happens when I open the folder, but I won't even click on...

    Folder crashing

Hey guys, I have a folder that's freezing on me after about 3-5 seconds opening it. I have two harddrives, one 80 gig (C drive)and one 250 gig (d drive). The C drive has the OS on it and I recently reformatted it. I have the D drive set to slave. The thing is, it's only doing this in one...

Secure File Sharing on XP Pro

About five people. The reason why I need the restriction is because by law, lawyers from different firms are not allowed to access each others files and there's one lawyer (and his secretary) that need to be restricted from the files. Otherwise, they share the internet connection.

Secure File Sharing on XP Pro

So by creating the users account on the XP Pro machine, does it have to match with the computer name on the XP Home machine? Or is it simply, when they want to access the drive, they have to enter a username/password that has been created on teh XP Pro machine?

Secure File Sharing on XP Pro

Hi I'm setting up a peer network for my friends law firm and I always thought XP Home was capable of setting passwords for file sharing, but I guess not. I'm pretty sure XP Pro will allow me to set a password for file sharing on the network (by turning off simple file sharing), but will this...
