If you use Novell Login scripts then insert the command CASTOFF ALL. This will stop ALL broadcast messages without needing to visit all your workstations.
Boy do I feel Dumb. I just loaded Mandrake 7.1 up and now trying to connect to my Novell/NT network. I have ipx and tcp/ip running currently on my network. I dont have a clue where to start with the Linux machine. This looks so different from Windows95. Where do I get to view other...
Novell has a TID that explains this well. I don't have the TID # but the doc is available on my web page<br>

I'm a Linux (VERY) newbie. I have a Novell/WindowsNT network running IPX and TCP. I just loaded Corel Linux and now want to get network connection. My Linux Machine has an SMC8416 NIC. What do I do now to setup the Linux to connect?<br>
Novell did release a 3 user full function CD set. You can load this up and add a multi user license as you need to. I don't know if it is still available. NW5 is very good with MANY new features and still keeping functionality of NW4. Check on the Novell site to see if the CDs are still...
This is a Time synchronization error. It is caused when the servers time is not current with the other servers in your tree. The servers continually update time with each other to keep the NDS in sync.
There are a couple ways. <br>
#1 add into the users login script <br>
<br>
#SEND /A=N<br>
<br>
This will block any messages from being received at the workstation. <br>

#2 change the Client32 Advanced Settings<br>
right click Network Neighborhood>properties>Novell Netware...
To give the users the ability to change their context on login, you need to right click on network neighborhood>properties>Novell Netware Client>Properties>Advanced Login tab>Check off the advanced Button.<br>
This will put a drop down button on the users Netware login screen...
I assume that you have a TEST tree and now want to move your ZEN apps into your production tree. Though I have not tried this, But this would be my plan of attack. I would graff the test tree into the production tree with NDSmanager. Then move the particular branch to the location you want...
TCP/IP Runs perfectly with ipx. There is no problem there. I have a 5 server network with my W/S oround my house all connected through a Proxy server to the internet. I get internet connection to every W/S simultaneously. This uses the IP Protocol. What Proxy are you useing? Do you have TCP...
I have a number of Laptops here and I must truthfully say that I HATE LAPTOPS! <br>
These are some of the most picky pieces of equipment know to Man/Woman ! In most cases I have found that I have to start with a clean install of the laptop with NO cards installed in the system. Then impliment...
The best solution is to install ACRSERVE on the servers to be backed up. But this usually isn't feasable. Each remote site should have its own backup device for the local servers. We had a similar situation here. One server would get backed up in 3 hours and the other would take 30. The quicker...
Don't know of any web sites, but here are some of MY tips. <br>
Keep as may APPS, DATA, etc on any volume EXCEPT the sys: volume. If the SYS: volume becomes too full you risk chances of crashing the server. I use a tree format.. On my DATA: dir I start with an APPS folder then work down further...
I would suggest checking ALL the hardware devices on the existing servers for compatibility with NW5. If there is an issue, get a patch file before you start. You may find some devices that will not work correctly.<br>
I had a D-Link NIC that worked fine with NW 4.11 but wouldnt work in NW5.
