We are running Client 32v3 on a 4.11 network. I want to be able stop our students sending messages across the network as this disrupts learning. Is there a simple way of doing it maybe through the login script? or do I have to disable it at each workstation?
There are a couple ways.
#1 add into the users login script

#SEND /A=N

This will block any messages from being received at the workstation.

#2 change the Client32 Advanced Settings
right click Network Neighborhood>properties>Novell Netware Client>properties>Advanced settings tab>scroll down to send message>change setting to OFF
also turn off the Show edit login script item, and show user administration menu.

This should stop "MOST" users. but this can be reversed through the registery.

#3 if you are useing ZENWORKS, setup a User Policy to dump down on the desktop at every login which will "LOCK" down the users to what you want them to be able to do. This will even allow you to remove the entire desktop and only allow the assigned apps to be visible.
