Sounds like you may have not burned the CD properly, or some type of problem with the burn occured.
That first line about the volume header seems to indicate that. The other two appear to be failures to load sash which would be the result of the CD not working properly in the first place.

I have tried many many times to do a network install on an Octane, R12K. Every time, it has failed.
When the installation is complete, it informs me of a kernel error that is "possibly due to an autonconfig() failure".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My Ultra1 does have a fan on the CPU, so maybe that was it. The problem seems to have stopped, but the only thing I did was change the keyboard/mouse.
Could the keyboard and/or mouse have been the problem? It sounds quite unlikely to me but it appears to have been the case.
Thanks
Ultra1, solaris 8, system crashes to prom ("ok" prompt), test-net internal loopback hangs forever, full-duplex light on hub sometimes goes off, system operates fine for days between problems. That's the basic summary.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I am having o2 video capture/convert related problems.
The MediaRecorder will often (but not always) fail during post-capture processing with "Could not map buffer for image conversion: DM_IMAGE_COMPRESSION". Sometimes when I try to play a file I did capture, MediaRecorder will just...
IMHO, the best place to get any SGI stuff (or any other old Unix workstations/servers) is Ebay.
http://www.ebay.com (as if you need this hehe)
I have purchased many SGI systems from Ebay, the selection is great and there is always hardware and software available.
I have an Indy running IRIX 6.5, with default web daemons running, web, ftp, telnet, etc. From time to time, usually after the machine has been on for a few hours, the network daemons just seem to stop responding. The machine can be pinged, but the telnet, webserver, etc will not respond...

I actually figured it out, it was something small and overlooked. But my next question is, what variable can I use in a startup script to get my current IP address?
For example, $VARIABLES used in static-route.options, is there one accessible which holds the value of the machine's IP address?
I cannot add a default route, either manually or at startup. In either case, the addition of the default route fails due to "Network unreachable" . This is IRIX 6.5 on an Indy.
I have added the default router to the hosts file, and have also tried route -n as well. Neither worked...
I seem to have made some progress here. I still have a question however. On the @home cable network, ip addresses will often resolve to names in the following way:
24.111.45.45 => d111-45-45.home.myisp.com
In setting up Solaris, what is the correct way to specify host name? Should the host...
I was running 3 machines through one cablemodem using an ethernet switch, each having an IP address without DHCP. This is one PC and 2 Sun Ultra 1's.
For some reason I am now unable to get the Sun machines' internet connections working (the PC is fine). I can ping back and forth between the...
I am suddenly having problems with my Solaris 8 box. It's an Ultra 1 200E, latest patch clusters installed. I had it off for several days and all I did during this time was remove the hard drives and plug them back in. Suddenly, seemingly without reason, problems have started.
There is now...
