Hi all,
I am planning to migrate user accounts from a domain environemnt windows server 2008 based terminal server into a virtualised environment, namely xenserver. If I have Citrix xenserver running on bare metal then have windows server 2008 installed on that, how will I replicate what i...
Hi all,
I will be setting up 2 distinct networks, call them 'A' and 'B'.
'A' will be a network with IP range 10.25.0.x and 'B' will be a network with IP range 10.25.1.x. Servers on both networks will have Citrix XenServer (Citrix visor) installed with windows server 2008 R2 running on each...

Hi all,
Is there anyway to redirect http or https for facebook on Windows 2008 DNS server? I have attempted blocking the site using draytek 2820 router and it only manages to block http not https. Is there a way it can be done using DNS server on windows 2008? If not can these sites be...
Hi all,
I am trying to setup a tftp server that handles also handles DHCP for a PXE boot up to install XenServer remotely. I am using tftpd64 as the tftp application and I have grabbed all the files I have needed and followed through examples I have seen on the web by some fellow called van hal...
Hi again,
Just found the issue here, the computer configuration of the loopback policy of the terminal server has been completely deleted. Is there anyway to pinpoint excatly when and by whom this was done? Thanks.
D.
Hi everyone,
For some strange reason our terminal server users are now able to copy documents from their terminal server session desktop straight onto their local desktop?!
No change has been made to my loopback terminal server policy which resides on a separate windows 2008 server.
Does...
Hi everyone,
I want to be able to script the basics of a server 2008 installation, the following constants I need in the script are as follows;
1) Partition sizes of OS install, 80gb for OS.
2) DCPROMO automated install (default directories are okay)
3) DNS forward and reverse lookup zones...
Hi Faithless, the script worked like a charm. Thanks. I'm starting a new thread on server scripting, your help will be greatly appreciated if you read this. I couldnt find a way to email you. Thanks again.
Drakul.
I have spent so long looking on the web trying to determine the best solution, hopefully this will work.
Thanks Faithless for the VBS code and valuable input, I will need to simulate this before live production, if its okay I will email you with how this goes. Thanks again!

Lets call this group LocalDesktopAdmins or LDA for short. Would I create an OU in AD then create the group account in that OU and use GPO to add LDA to local administrators group for all workstations in domain? They would need to add systems to domain and use the account on network printers...
Hi all,
I am trying to find out the best way to lockout desktop admins who are part of the administrators group on a domain , from logging onto any windows 2008 or windows 2003 server? What is the best approach to do this? Thanks.

Hi all,
We have a 3 win2k8 servers and 2 win2k3 servers. Only one the win2k8 servers is acting as the DC. There are now 2 serious issues;
1) The problem we are faced with is that on some of the client machines are showing US date format MM/DD/YYYY and not DD/MM/YYYY. The clients machines are a...
Forgot to add I have checked the registry key located at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International
and the date formats seem to be what I need for the domain controller but still the client systems do not change the date format. Any help? Thanks.
D.
Hi all,
Somehow the date settings on client systems on a domain is shown in MM/DD/YYYY format and not DD/MM/YYYY format. I have tried to rectify this by GPO user preferences (regional settings) on the domain controller and verified the system date format of the server as well, but I still...
Does sound like DNS issue or RPC. Check event log for RPC service unavailable errors, if you see errors try restarting the service manually.
Can you resolve names forward and reverse? Try nslookup 'hostname' and nslookup 'ipaddress' at cmd, could also be reverse name resolution errors.
I currently have 2 zones configured on the DNS server, forward and reverse zones, the address 192.168.0.1 resides in the same range as all the lan clients and is within DHCP scope.
I have already assigned multiple names to map single IP and yes I did get the result you stated in your last post...
