Hi, I have a load of Word and Excel files that were created with MS Office 2003.
I no longer have the 2003 version of Office but only the 2000 version.
Can anyone tell me if it would be possible to view these files with MS Office 2000? Or would it be a case of being able to view the files but...
I have an old internal hdd that I am currently accessing through an enclosure and so to all intents and purposes, it's an external hdd.
Anyway, I would like to be able to password protect the drive itself. Is this possible?
I know how to password protect my windows desktop and so obviously...
I used the import function on Outlook Express. At first it appeared that the import could only be done from another email program but then it became apparent that I could import from a store folder for the dbx files that I had created on my desktop.
Hi there, I'm trying to place some .dbx files from an old hdd on to a new computer so that I can access the folders in Outlook Express.
I've copied over the old .dbx files into the relevant folder on my new HDD:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application...
Irish1957,
So presumably I just find the relevant folders, drag and drop over to the location where I want to be able to access them again i.e. the new computer.
I'm trying to retrieve the bookmarks/favourites from my old HDD. On the old computer, I used both IE and Firefox, and I have a load of links in the relevant folders for each program.
However, I am having trouble trying to locate the relevant folders on the old HDD.
I need to keep my computer running at all times in order to remain updated. However, it is in a shared household and I'm concerned people might be able to gain access to it whilst I am out of the house.
Is there a way for me to keep the computer running and accessing the web, but at the same...
wolluf - I tried that - didn't work.
I'm going to take it to a computer maintenance guy, who'll just place the hdd into a motherboard and then transfer the data over to an external hdd.
I'm going to forget the enclosure altogether.
Thanks for the suggestions anyway guys.
Here's the link for the picture of what appears in the disk management when I connect the enclosure up to the HDD:

There must be a reason as to WHY the OS does not assign the drive a letter.
I should have also stated that when I plug in the drive to the computer's usb port, the computer recognises the attachment of a new device, and then I get the following Windows error message:
'Windows could not load the installer for volume.'
italicsI'm still working on the picture upload.
Yes, this drive contains data; it's the HDD from my old computer which I removed before I sold the computer.
I don't know what was used to format it but it was a Dell computer if that's of any help.
I've attached a picture of what appears under the disk management. In the list, my drive is...
Hi there,
I have an internal HDD(Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 120GB ATA/133 HDD) that I am trying to access through an enclosure.
The enclosure I purchased is:
Icy Box IB-351U-BL (http://www.raidsonic.de/)
I followed the instructions on the leaflet for the enclosure, set the jumper to master...
