But the YDEBTPGM variable is within an application and cant be changed !!
I may use your fist suggestion as regards the use of the PATH
Most obliged..
As part of the install of AIX the system creates the following groups which have no user accounts setup
mail, ecs, printq, perf, shutdown, kmem & nogroup
what would be the implications of removing these groups ?
Also our auditors (a hex upon them) are suggesting we should remove the sendmail...
I would like to set an environmental variable using a script.
This variable would be run at logon (via the .profile)
and would set a directory for a particular variable.
e.g export YDEBTPGM=/DebtMan/LIVE/progs
I was wondering , for release purposes, if I could concatenate another file to...

Have set up an netrc file containing two macros (one for an upload and one for a download) - I have been able to issue the FTP <hostname> and called the netrc entry which logs me...
Have you checked there is no .netrc file in your home directory containing an init macro
If one exists - rename it as netrc (remove the full stop) and try your ftp command again

Has anyone any tips on configuring an OSA-2 Adapter within
TCP/IP for OS/390.
Should I configure both ports (0 & 1) - if so how do I
utilise both ports within TCP/IP ?
I'm not waving I'm drowning !!!! :-0
I have 2 10/100 ethernet adapters to configure in AIX but have been told that I cant assign addresses using the same subnet.
I have configure one adapter successfully but am loath to
configure the second until someone can explain why I shouldnt use the same subnet as the first.
Have you checked the terminal setup (ctrl and minus) on keyboard takes you into the setup where you can check the config.
An ibm3151 terninal manual will explain most parms.
