    RAID 5 Drive Failures

Well in an ideal world you'd never use it. But the point is it's there should you need it - it's an insurance. And yeah, you will need to bring the system down to replace the bad drive but you'll be able to choose when you do it. Which controller do you have? http://scottcross.blogspot.com...

or instead of going Hot Swappable you should be able to add a hot-spare. Then in the event you lose a drive, you wouldn't need to bring the system down. http://scottcross.blogspot.com Windows and NT Admin.

loadbalancing failover options with UNC paths?

mrdenny is right. Domain based DFS will do exactly what you want. you'll end up with a path like \\domainname\sharename but it will point to multiple targets like \\server1\share \\server2\share http://scottcross.blogspot.com Windows and NT Admin.

    Restore Domain Controller

You can seize the roles, The link I supplied earlier shows how to do this. Although, you probably won't notice the lack of these 2 roles until you either try to extend the schema or create a child domain. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong on this. http://scottcross.blogspot.com...

    Domain controller roles

The TS was a member of the SBS domain, then dcpromo'd to make it a DC. There is no restriction with SBS on the number of Domain controllers. However, it's not really a good idea to have your TS as a DC. (though I'm sure someone will disagree with me :-)) http://scottcross.blogspot.com...

    Restore Domain Controller

First thing to do is track down which server holds the FSMO Roles. http://support.microsoft.com/?id=234790 Then, if your old server1 held the fsmo's you should make sure it is not now named the same as it was before. Run DCpromo on your fresh install of win 2003. then if neseccary, seize the...
