I'm not really sure this is the right forum for this... but I am using VBScript, so here goes.
What I'm doing is writing a script that reads in MBSA XML files and gathers some information. The script is doing find in reading the XML and gathering some information from the said XML files and...
I'll throw in my 2 cents....
Personally, the way I backup my stuff is on a separate drive - it's a 160 GB laptop hard disk in a Nextstar3 enclosure. Works great.
My webhost (A2 Hosting) gives me what they call a webdisk. Essentially, just a place to store files, that is accessible over the web...
Are you using roaming profiles and/or folder redirection?
XP and 7 have very different directory structures when it comes to the user's Local Settings folder. As for why you'd have a month delay for the problem to rear its head, I don't know.
As for the events, you might try some of the...
Greetings.
You say that the problem follows users. Does it follow the user if they log into a Win 7?

For those interested, I was able to find a solution. I edited the GP for the Domain Controller and changed the following Setting:
Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options > Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level
Then set that...
Thank you for the response. I did some checking and I think you're on the right track with the SMB 2.0 causing me problems.
I will see if I can disable it and test.

By vbscript, I assume you're talking about an external file, and by "enterprise scheduling tool" I assume you're not talking about Windows Scheduled Tasks.
Given these assumptions, I'd ensure that the SYSTEM id has access to the database file. You should be able to check this via Effective...
I believe giving them RE/LF/R/W should do the trick. FC does seem like you're giving them more permissions than they need.
I'm not sure if Write gives them the ability to create folders or not.
Hope this gets you closer to a better solution.

I am wondering why you're doing this via a batch job. If I believe you should be able to make the needed change via Group Policy in the registry settings section.

Greetings,
I've spent a long time trying to figure this out and am left with nothing but stress. It is kind of embarrassing, but here goes:
I'm consulting to a company with:
- Win 2k8 R1 32bit Server (Jack of all trades- DC, DNS, DHCP, File, Print)
- Win 7 Pro 64 bit clients
The network is...
My apologies. I posted too soon.
For any interested parties, I found this about opening the backup file:

I backed up my 2008 Server using the Windows Backup. I'm trying to recover a file form this backup on my Win 7 workstation, Windows 7 refuses to open the catalog.
How are you supposed to open a windows backup catalog and restore the files?
Thanks for your help in this matter.

Keep in mind though... very generally speaking, I've found value in the phrase "you get what you pay for".
If I had to do it for free, I'd go with AVG Free. Something is better than nothing; that's for sure!
If I could get some funds, I'd go with Kaspersky. They really do a fabulous job with...
Thanks for the post.
What is happening is that users are not logging off. So when the second shift comes in, the workstation is locked and cannot be used. When you press CTRL+ALT+DEL to unlock the station, the only thing you can do is enter the password of the logged in user. Pressing...
Greetings,
I figure there has to be a way to do this... just can't find it. Here's what I want to do:
I want to allow my users to force the current logged in user to log off, so they can log in. I do not want to user Fast User Switching as that would allow multiple users to be logged in...
Greetings,
I'm having a weird problem. I'm setting up a new Server 08 box for a small organization. I've added AD, DNS, DHCP.. I'm now configuring the group policy preferences to deploy printers.
I've added one printer (Lexmark T632) and it is deploying as it should. I'm working on the second...
Did you ever find a solution? My problem is that when my use pastes from wordk, the apostrophes are changed the question marks.
Thanks.

For any interested parties...
I found a workable solution - not perfectly accurate, but works for this app.
1. Create the Google map with the directions
2. Click on a point on the route that where it crosses the state line. This will create a point on the map.
3. On the left side you will...
Greetings,
Has anyone used Netgear's Push2TV? I'm looking at testing this little box and seeing if I can get it to work with XP over Wireless G.
This config isn't the standard supported stuff, but I wanted to see if anyone has used the technology and if it actually works as good as professed...
