    Getting quiet?

It was almost good to read some of the other related problems people have been experiencing lately. It seems to me my calls for virus/spyware problems are way down from this time last year. Am I the only one to experience that?

    Outlook2003 messages dissapearing

That was it. The wording is a little different in the 2003 version, but it got me there. Thats a feature I seldom use.

    1 Down, 999,999,999 to go

The first link (haven't read the others yet) mentions being shut down. Is legal action pending? If not, I assume they will just open under another name.

    Outlook2003 messages dissapearing

I've got a user who suddenly is losing messages out of their inbox and I'm not sure where they are going. He gets a new message, views it, perhaps clicks on another folder, then when he comes back to the inbox, the message is gone. Archiving is set to move anything that is 6 months old, and...

    Bogus Wireless connections

THank you for the referral to that thread. I had scanned the wireless forum, but missed it. Sure seems like a malware type of thing.

    Weird WiFi AP?

If you have ever connected to a peer-to-peer network, your machine will continue to advertise that network pretty much forever if you don't specifically turn off the ad hoc connection capability." Is everyone happy with this explanation? I noticed it earlier this year, but this week I had 9...

    Bogus Wireless connections

Not sure if this is the "Evil Twin" scenario I am just starting to read about.

    Bogus Wireless connections

I work for a large corporation with hundreds of sites and we get frequent visitors from those other sites with their laptops. I am always seeing new Wireless connections popping up when we have visitors. For example, this week I have been seeing WifiInn, Wireless network, or Free public Wifi...

This week's windows updating taking down PCs?

At first I didn't think much of it, but this weekend I had a customer with a Celeron 800 running XP Pro, his system stated NTFS.sys was missing and to select the repair function from the setup CD. I am in the process of reintalling that one. Came into work this morning and 8 new Dell Optiplex...

    Access to clipboard

After installing beta 3, IE 7 is giving me a lot of warnings of allowing the website to access my clipboard. These have all been websites I trust. Anyway to turn this off?

    I want to like IE7

After posting I found this on MS site Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2, Beta 2 Preview, or Beta 1 To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2, Beta 2 Preview, or Beta 1 and return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 Click "Start", and then click "Control Panel"...

    I want to like IE7

I really do. Beta 2, has a couple of minor annoyances on my machine, so I was happy to see Beta 3 out. The problem is I can't install it. When the installation runs, it says the program is already install, remove the existing program using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in the CONTROL PANEL. Uninstall...

    Malicious spyware problem

http://housecall.trendmicro.com 's free scan will probably help as well. Make sure Defender is updated.

    Limewire

I guessing you mean the Free version. I have been using the paid version for years and it is great. just be carefull what you are downloading" Yea, thats it, at least for this customer, the virus they contracted came from a bogus download.

    Limewire

I worked on a PC this weekend with BearShare. I haven't seen that spyware choked pig in awhile. They also have limewire. I've only seen Limewire once before. Is it another source of problems, or perhaps more legitimate.

    Watch out! Anti-Spyware installs Spyware

Its easy to see how even people with some IT exerpience could be tricked by those ads at the top of the search results on download.com. I guess the cost of the site has to be paid somewhere. I was not however, aware of the people coming to forums like this and deliberately pushing their...

    Malware like Flash drive

I didn't think to hold down the shift key, not always easy, but at least its something. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Wireless won't get IP

I had thought that the pc was clean, after removing several trojans, but I've decided it just isn't worth it. Its a college kid of my regular customer. I had already once reformatted because of viruses. The mistake I made was, after completing the laptop the first time I only checked to see...

Question about a potentially malware infection

Interesting. Good to know about. Thanks for sharing.

    AD-Aware doesn't find potential Spyware

Do as Pech suggests, but also try ad-aware in Safe mode. Things are changing so fast in the spy/ad/malware fields these days I've found I can't depend on any single stand alone spyware scan product.
