its set to unpack arhive files to scan inside them. If it cant unpack them (because of a password or corruption) then they are quarantined. I could turn the setting off but I'd rather not !
Thanks marc, I'd sooner find out why this particular file is not zipping than when others do than have to keep turning the anti-virus on and off.

I have a password protected excel file created using office XP. Its 25MB (lots of pivot tables) so i want to zip it before mailing. If I zip it (using winzip 8.1 sr1) with the password it compresses to about 22MB. If I take the password off it compresses to about 4MB ! This doesnt occur on...
We use GFI's mail essentials which is not too expensive (priced per mailbox) and has numerous anti-spam filters that can also handle blocking mail to/from specific incoming and outgoing addresses or domains.

thanks MISAdmin & Citrix engineer - you are right - I know its NT3.51 but looks just like Windows 3.11 interface (i.e. not very friendly !).

One of the users tried to be clever and install a program during their session. Needless to say it doesnt work but I need to take it off so I cn install it properly on the server...
an update on the above - I have installed Office 97 SR-2b which has fixed the problem in Word but still occurs in Excel - any ideas would be greatly appreciated !

I have just installed office 97 on a windows 2k machine.
Everything is well except when using explorer to open word or excel files.
If the relevant program is already running then the file opens ok.
If the relevant program is not running then it loads as normal, opens the file then tries to open...
I have just bought a Sony Vaio laptop with XP Pro.
The 'Use Personalised Menus' option is switched on but nothing is 'peronsonalising' i.e. all the programs and all my favorites show the whole time.
I copied my favorites from my old laptop but cant see why that would matter. I have turned it on...

I created a custom recipient with the internet mail address set as the e-mail address I want to redirect to then set this as the alternative recipient on the original recipient's details. Hey presto.
