An F-lock? I'm not sure I'm familiar with that. I have tried pressing nearly every key when the computer first starts up to no avail.

Since my other threads are other problems and are pretty much solved, I am starting a new one.
I have Windows XP. I had a slave drive (80GB) that went bad. With it connected either as primary or secondary drive as soon as the computer comes on it says it detected a problem with the hard drive...
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Problem is I'm on a very low budget. I can't really afford to buy a new hard drive right now and am trying to make it work without going that extra step at least for another month if I can. If that means moving all my files to disk to free up space then I...
As I stated in the above post, it's Windows XP and a 28gig hard drive. That's the op system and hardware. It came with an 80gig hd, but it had problems, so I ditched it and used one onhand.
I'm well aware of the difference between RAM and Disk Space, so I'm sorry if I was unclear. My Virtual...
I have Windows XP with a 28gig hard drive (the old one burned out) and only abou 7 or 8 gigs free space. I do a lot of work with Photoshop and Illustrator. Well now neither of those programs (or some other programs) will open saying I don't have enough memory. Would I be better off purchasing...
Thanks about the secondary drive. What about this problem:
Well it seems I have another problem now. My virtual memory is gone. It happened to be my secondary hard drive that was the problem as with it unhooked the PC was running fine. But then my memory wen kaputz. It's only a 28gig hd...
If someone doesn't answer soon I'm gonna have to go plop down $100 for a new hard drive even if that's not the problem just to get the thing working. You guys have always been super helpful to me. Please Respond! :(

If anyone's out there I need an answer immediately if you can. I HAVE to get this done today or else I lose work. Thanks!

And just another question on the secondary hard drive (the 80gig one) as well.
With it plugged in either as the secondary or primary drive the computer won't go into Windows at all.
It will show my Gateway screen, then I get a message saying a problem has been detected with the harddrive...
Well it seems I have another problem now. My virtual memory is gone. It happened to be my secondary hard drive that was the problem as with it unhooked the PC was running fine. But then my memory wen kaputz. It's only a 28gig hd (the secondary was 80gigs) on XP and I only have about 7gigs...
I had to run chkdsk a few weeks ago for something and now I don't know how to shut it off. It runs every time I reboot and it can never access the drive.
My second issue is I am getting a message saying a problem has been detected with the harddrive, consult owner's manual. Press enter to...
Ugh. After being held up for TWO MONTHS with the second level of tech support they tell me it's not their problem, when it is clearly timing out at a secureserver on the network according to the trace route! So I'm screwed. My ISP can't help me, godaddy can't help me, so I'm on of luck.

No resolution yet. The hosts of the sites I can't access have escalated it to a higher level of support and are supposedly researching it, but I haven't heard anything in a while.

Actually, they (godaddy) have escalated the issue to the next level of their support. It seems like an error on their end. I went through some troubleshooting with them and it doesn't appear to be on my end.

Well, after running into a brick wall with Adelphia I contacted godaddy again and after looking at my tracert they told me that the range of IP addresses were blocked from email but not from accessing the sites. I then explained to them more emphatically that I can't access the site, but they...
And tonight I'm not near a phone, so I tried online support and they brushed me off telling me they couldn't do anything about other servers blocking their IP addresses. SHEESH!

Oh, by the way, my cousin could access it fine, and her servers were the same as mine, though I'm guessing her IP address isn't in the same range.

Understood. I've worked in tech support at a few levels (in printers and cell phones) so I know what you're talking about.
Man, that does suck. Okay, off to contact Adelphia then. Thanks, I would have never gotten this far with out everyone's help here.
