Help... Cannot Access a Hard Drive

SimonDavies... Using the Power Supply Calculator (http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/) I determined that I needed a 336 watt PSU and that is for peak wattages. Even under full load, actual consumption is usually less than the figures calculated. I recently installed an Antec TrueBlue...

Help... Cannot Access a Hard Drive

Follow-Up I once again rebooted my computer and now see that another of my hard drives is no longer accessible! This drive is a 200GB drive that I split into 3 partitions. Note that this drive is brand new... I installed in on Monday! Since then I have been converting old VHS tapes from...

Help... Cannot Access a Hard Drive

Within the last hour I lost access to one of my hard drives (60gig)!! This happened on a reboot. Just before the system closed down (as I was rebooting) I saw an error message about some file but it disappeared too quickly to read or do anything about it! So I opened up the event viewer to see...

Booting from USB CD - IBM NetVista

Yes the CD does boot in a non-usb situation. I tried my Windows CD and had the same result. I also tried it on another NetVista I have (same type #) and had the same problem. That PC has a non-usb CD drive and when I set that as the 2nd startup item in the sequence (after the USB Boot Device)...

Booting from USB CD - IBM NetVista

Thanks Linney... However nothing from that site helped me... I tried the Generic Approach to only leave the USB Boot Device as the only bootable item in the Startup sequence but all I get is a screen telling me that there is no operating system present!!

New Mobo will not post!! Need some help...

Update... I finally got into the BIOS config... I read somewhere that if you hold down the insert key when booting that it sometimes works... not sure if that is what did it but eventually I got in and was able to change the start up sequence so that it now boots from the CD... now I am able...

New Mobo will not post!! Need some help...

You are right I am lucky to get a replacement for a board that old!! The good news is that I received the board already (I am very impressed with IBM... they stood behind their product and even after that, they took my word that the first board they sent me was bad and sent me a second one...

Yes... I am using the same psu, ram...etc from my old mobo. Thanks for all your ideas... if anything, I have learned a lot more about the hardware than I knew before. On the good news front... IBM just called me back and have now agreed to send me another mobo... I certainly hope that this...

New Mobo will not post!! Need some help...

The computer has an Intel Pentium III processor... the psu only has the 20 pin connector and connectors for the drives!! I don't think that this board has a 4 pin, 2 black and 2 yellow wire connector, right?? I tried what you suggested with the screwdriver on the 2 pins and the same result...

New Mobo will not post!! Need some help...

garebo, Okay… I tried the JP 10 a few more times… each time with the same result… that is absolutely nothing happens! The mobo is already out of the case and on a cardboard box. I looked at the caps to see if they look bad but they don’t… (the original board had bad caps which is why IBM...
