Due to some compliance requirements, I am now required to disable the "save usernames & passwords" option for IE on all my systems. That part I have figured out via creating a GPO.
However, part of the compliance also states that I must remove any existing passwords that have previously been...
We recently upgraded our Active Directory from 2000 to 2003R2. Our schema was previously (in ver 2000) extended to include a handful of custom attributes. These attributes are still present in the 2003R2 schema, but we are unable to edit them using adsiedit if they contain a STRING value. Any...
I recently upgraded all of our domain controllers from Server2000 to Server 2003. Now we are having problems with our Windows-to-UNIX password synchronization. I installed and configured the Identity management for UNIX on the new windows servers, and added the appropriate UX boxes as "sync...
We've run into a slight issue that I have not been able to dig up much information on. We are in the process of expanding our VMware farm from 4 to 8 servers. The original 4 servers are quad-socket quad-core Xeons (family E7340). We are running VMware ESXi 4.1 with VCenter server 4.1.
The...
I searched for this, but the only thread was one started back in 2005, so I am hoping that the answer has changed with newer versions.
We are running Notes 8.5.1 and I am trying to figure out how to add an alarm/reminder to any new meeting request that I receive (and, hopefully, to add an...
I have a URL that I need to redirect as follows:
original path is --
https://appname.company.com/directoryname/default.aspx
I would like to configure a redirect so that users can just type in https://appname.company.com and it will take them directly to the proper directory.
I am running IIS...
I'm wondering what's the best disk type to use for D2D backups? We have the ability to use either 10 or 15K Fiber channel, or 7.2K SATA.
I've done some googling but I'm not finding anything really difinitive as to which is the 'best' to use?
We will be using BackupExec 12.x to backup a...
in light of the recent ESX 3.5 update 2 debacle --
what (if any) testing plan do you have for testing ESX patches in your production environment?
1. do you just install patches as they are released?
2. do you wait a specified time period after release to install?
3. install on one server...
I have an opportunity to officially move into the "management" side of things and be, basically, the assistant director of IT at my company. I'm completely torn as to whether this would be a good move for me or not. I've always said I *never* want to go into management, I want to stay...
I have EX2K3 running in a front-end / back-end setup (one of each right now). My barracuda spam filter is currently set to forward incoming mail directly to the back-end server... should it be passing the messages to the front-end first, then letting the front-end transport the messages to the...
I want to push out a folder to ALL Outlook clients in my org. I have one Exchange server that they all point to. the folder needs to be craeted at the 'root' level of their mailbox (and ideally have a link in the Favorite Folders pane as well).
Is there an easy way to automate this, or do I...
D'oh! I thought the Size column included the Deleted Items folder in its calculations. That was exactly his problem... the mailbox was only 3MB, but Deleted Items was 66MB.
I learn something new every day. Thanks a million!!
Info: User Mailbox Store issues a Warning at 47.5MB and prohibits Send at 62MB.
Several of my users are getting the Warning messages in their Inbox, even though they're nowhere near the Warning limit. One guy got a warning this morning, but his mailbox is only at 2.6MB !!
what on earth might...
I need to change the company name on all of my user accounts in AD (400+). Is there an easy way to do this, or am I stuck using CSVDE/ADSIedit (or doing it manually, yuck)?
not that I know of, unless you set up a reservation for every machine that you want to allow. This would prevent 'not-allowed' machines from getting an address.
depending on how many clients you have, though, that could be tedious.
Hi,
I have 3 XP Pro sp2 workstations that have a custom drive mapping to a NAS device on my network. This device runs a Linux kernel, so it doesn't handle AD authentication. I've created local user accounts for all 3 users on the device.
When I created the drive mapping on each machine, I...
on my Win2003 file server, I have several files in my RECYCLER on each drive that are taking up much-needed space. I only see them when I run my TreeSize software (to show who/what is consuming disk space on the server) - the files don't show in Windows Explorer.
The files look incredibly old...
Has anybody else been experiencing issues when using Adobe 8 Professional on WinXP? We are seeing some REALLY strange things going on with Adobe 8 vs. our Sharp color printers. sometimes the job won't print at all, other times it prints all goofed up (e.g. send it in portrait format, it prints...
