Is it possible to limit access to a Microsoft DHCP server by specifying machine name criteria?

Like /^[a-zA-Z]{1}\d{8}/

not that I know of, unless you set up a reservation for every machine that you want to allow. This would prevent 'not-allowed' machines from getting an address.

depending on how many clients you have, though, that could be tedious.

Although you could, in theory, create a bogus scope that applies to a specific class, and let machines you don't want to use the DHCP server get those addresses. YMMV.
