Why not just export the contacts out to Excel, then do a replace of companyx.com with companyy.com?
Go back to Outlook, delete all the 'old' contacts and import the Excel file back into your contacts.
I just did it on my computer (running Outlook 2007) and the whole process took less than 5...
Are the laptop/desktop having the issues mapped to any network drives? I've seen this kind of behavior before and removing the mapped network drives usually alleviates the slowness(especially if they are no longer valid mappings).
Hope this works.....

According to the download page for the MS Math Add-In, it should be available from the Equation Ribbon in Word.
When in Word, click the Insert Tab.
Now click on Equation (not the drop down arrow, but the actual Equation symbol there)
You should be given the Equation Ribbon, look to see if...
There is a way to do a split in an e-mail in Outlook 2007. Right above the vertical scroll bar on the right hand side when in a new e-mail in Outlook 2007 you should see a little 'icon' for 'View Ruler' When you click it, it will toggle the ruler either off or on....now for the good part...
I always hesitate to disagree with any of the posters, however, tf1, you had mentioned having NorthNone toggle the field codes by using Shift+F9. The actual key combination for toggling field codes is Alt+F9.
So, to that end, I almost want to say that NorthNone's issue is one where the...
I have seen this error happen before, but am not sure in Word 2002 how to correct it.
In the instances I've seen this happen, it has to do with the Language which is set for the document.
Here's how it was dealt with in the instances I've seen.
Highlight the entire document (including the...
Based on the symptoms, I've seen this happen before where you click the drop down to Save In and it takes forever to populate. Check and see if they have any network drives mapped. If they do, go into Windows Explorer, click Tools, Disconnect Network Drive, choose the drive(s) they may be...
Carlos82,
Another thing to check concerning the pdfmaker.dot is within Word itself. Open up Word just to a blank document.
Then click Tools, Templates & Add-ins.
On the Template tab, look to see if pdfmaker.dot is listed under the Global Templates & Add-ins section. If so, click once on it...
jbl1167,
I agree wholeheartedly with Gerry and eyec. Learn Word....AND learn Styles.
Gerry mentions Payne Consulting, and he is SOOOOOOO right! I had VBA training through Payne Consulting back in the late 90s (forgotten more than I learned from not using it much....lol) and I attended an...
I work for a Help Desk and one of my callers has a unique issue that I'm having a difficult time solving or finding a solution to.
Whenever he searches for an email essage, Outlook will begin the search with emails that were received approximately 30-45 days ago and then move through the...
Good point onedtent, but it probably won't have much effect on the final file size of the document. The allow fast saves has to do with the order in which the data within the document is saved.
From what I understand of this function, when you turn on allow fast saves, this just makes it so...
BullFrogBill,
I used to run into this kind of problem with large file sizes from graphics when I worked at a Help Desk for a large, international law firm.
One of the things you can do, though time intensive, is to try the following:
Select an image from the document.
Click Edit, Cut
Let the...
Have you checked the View for your Contacts? Get into your Contacts, then right click a blank area where the contacts show, choose Customize Current View. If you have the Reset Current View button activated, click it and see if your Contacts appear.
Have you tried just downloading the Global Address Book to be stored locally on the computer? You can do this by:
There are 2 steps to this. First you need to make sure that the Address Book is downloaded, then you can do a manual download of the Global Address Book. This creates an .oab...
The keyboard shortcut for toggling field codes is:
Alt+F9 (hold down the Alt key while you hit the F9 key).
See if this makes things look a little better.
I actually had a user with this same exact problem just today. I found a SpyAxe removal tool from f-secure. Here is the link to their SpyAxe removal tool page: http://www.f-secure.com/sw-desc/spyaxe.shtml
I had the customer run it and it worked like a charm for him.
Have you tried, within Word, to turn off the use of Smart Quotes (curly quotes)?
Open the .csv file into Word
Click Tools
Select AutoCorrect Options
On the AutoFormat tab, de-select Straight Quotes with Smart Quotes
Do the same thing on the AutoFormat as you Type tab.
OK out of those windows...
