Having 2 odd problems with DNS on a 2000 domain. First issue is that all the secondary zones will stop loading randomly; when this happens the event log will start to log errors stating that the DC for X zone can't be contacted. All secondary zones will have this issue one after another...
Thanks for the replies! I found the 'Don't run specified...' policy shortly after posting, guess it helped shock my memory. I have a vbs script that runs now on logon so I might just add the portion to restrict it.
I've found/done this before but for the life of me I can't remember where/how to do this. I want to use group policy to disable/remove the games that come installed with XP. I swear there was an option or a template that let me simply enable the feature just to disable games but I can't find it...
Here's what's going on, had 2 DNS servers set up running on 2000. I could resolve a name (via ping, etc) by just typing in the machine name for computers in the network or in one of the secondary zones set up. I've added a 3rd server running DNS which is 2003 and now the master server, all...
Here is the current organization: 1 bridgehead server and numerous other exchange servers of course all going through that bridgehead all on 5.5. There are many different domains, none are in the same forest. So server A is in one domain in one forest whereas server B is in a whole different...

If someone could give me some info or point me in the right direction on this it would be great. Here's my question.
Right now our company wide email system is set up so that each site gets external email via the corp office's Exchange 5.5 server. So an email comes in to the CO then gets routed...
I'm having an issue where emails are being sent via our exchange server that show up in the outbound queue as having '<>' as the originating source.
These are all dealing with the latest sober worm, but all on site computers are clean. How can I tell where these messages are being sent from...
I'm having a problem with a Toshiba Protege 4010 laptop running Windows 2K. The problem is with the built in wireless card not allowing an IP to be assigned.
When I do ipconfig the device comes up that the media is disconnected, you can not ping/do release or renew or get an IP of any kind. I...
I'm having an odd problem, this just started today even though everything has been running fine.
I can not access one of my servers from my DC using the name of the computer. I can access the server from any other computer on the network using it's name. If I ping by name on the DC it gives me...
Findfast is the indexing process used by MS Office for searching. That could be slowing down your system some but if it's really slow I can't see that being the whole problem.
Can you give us more info like what all is running on the server, has it always been slow, is it slow starting up or...
Incase you haven't done so already I'll just point out a few quick things to check:
-make sure you have all the updates for Veritas (there might even be a hotfix out there for this problem..haven't checked yet)
-check the job log in veritas to see exactly what/where the error is. does the...
Do you want to actually make the folders hidden or just restrict who can access them?
Restricting access is easy and very effective, using the security tab under properties you can simply designate the person(s) who can access that folder. Other users will see that one folder but won't be able...
