Crosses 1024 cylinders - Not bootable??

I'm trying to shrink a partition, that I made when I installed windows. But when I try it says "This partition crosses the 1024 cylinder boundary and may not be bootable" - however it IS bootable right now, and its 80! I have to go below 8gb before it doesn't say that. So what is this all...

Thanks!! :) I had completely forgot about that solution, and its probably much more simple, and just as secure. (you got to have a username and password) I'm just a bit curious. what is the difference between FTP and VPN - what more can you do on VNP? They are very similar aren't they?

What should the structure be like?

Thanks everyone!! Vacunita >> If you only got 1 image for each type of computer, then what happends with all the local settings, such as, computername, and so on? Or do you have the computer disconnected from the network until it has its own unique name and so on? Btw I got 80 Gb harddisks in...

What should the structure be like?

Hi, I'm setting up a few machines, but when I have talked to real system admins, they always talk about backups, mirroring, ghosts and stuff like that. I have started to make two partitions on the PCs, one 4.5 Gb for the system and the programs, and the rest for storage. The idea was that, if...

    Multiple monitors

I got the same question. I'm about to buy an extra card. Would it help if I got a PCI card instead of an AGP?

    AGP + motherboard graphic?

I want to connect 2 monitors to my computer, for some office work. Right now I only have an onboard/built-in VGA port in my computer, so I wanted to buy an AGP card. However the computer seller says that if I buy one of those it will disable the onboard "card", and I will end up with just 1...

Built-in FTP - turn off passive mode

Hmm, is this for DOS-prompt-FTP or IE-FTP? When I try to logon via ftp in explore/IE, and I look in the task manager, there isn't any programs called "ftp.exe" and it was that FTP-client I was thinking about, so I guess it has another name. Sorry for not writing that in my first thread. And I...

Built-in FTP - turn off passive mode

Where is the temp folder, for "compressed (zipped) folders"?

Thanks alot! You were right, thats where the files are hidden! :) I miss another program that does the same as the one you send. I dont remember the name of it though. I once found a "simple" but so cool program, it showed your harddisk like a big messy bookcase, each file shown as a book...

Where is the temp folder, for "compressed (zipped) folders"?

I have a little problem with "compressed zipped folders" that I can only solve manually - my computer froze while it was unzipping a file - and now I wanna find that tempfile so that I can remove it (it has eaten like 1 gb of my system partition) So: where is the folder located that contain the...

    Filesharing not allowed!?

Thanks!!! The link told me that I should change: This is in some cases caused by a registry setting named RestrictAnonymous. Go to the computer which you cannot access, start a registry editor and change the following registry value. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM \CurrentControlSet \Control \Lsa...

    Filesharing not allowed!?

They are "WORKGROUP" and I can see all the computers, but only get into some of them, and see the shared files and folder. When I click on other computers on the list I get a message saying: "\\computername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact...

    Sharing a network printer

Thanks alot!!! And you are so right, everything is just working perfect! It's a bit strange that the "networkprinter" shouldn't be used in my case though. Any newbie would think a printer with a RJ45 plug is a networkprinter. But well it works! Thanks alot!! :)
