    Crystal Database connection in BO

In the CMC, find the report object (either list all objects or browse through the folders). Once you're looking at the report object, you'll have tabs such as Properties, History, Process etc. Choose Process, then Database. Put your username and password details in there. We also usually...

    Crystal Database connection in BO

If you saved the report from the Crystal XI designer to BO, you need to login to the CMC and reset the database login details. The designer does not save the DB login details to the repository when you save the report(!). You can change the refresh options of the report in the CMC so that any...

    RowsetController.browseFieldValues() Problems

Hi, BOE XI R2 and RAS SDKs. I'm developing a batch Java bursting application which will burst new instances of various reports to various users. The configuration for "who gets what" is held on our main system DB (Ingres). The Java app gets the parent report ID from the Ingres DB and then...

    Date Range String

Madawc, We're trying to use the Crystal Report Server as the place to hold monthly/weekly/daily/on demand reports rather than emailing them to mulitple users who then store them in all sorts of locations. Some of our reports are already produced in PDF format, but others need to be maintained...

    Date Range String

Environment: Crystal Reports Developer XI R1 (+ Crystal Reports Server XI R1) Many of our sales reports allow the user to choose a time period (either a number of months or pre-set values like year-to-date, etc.). I have a set of repository custom functions that build a date string (e.g...

    Check report permissions

Environment: Crystal Report Server XI, Visual Basic Hi, Using the Crystal RS COM SDK, and VB 2005 Express I need to know how to check the permissions on a report (e.g. whether a user is allowed to view/schedule). I'm developing a reporting app for users to be able to see what reports they can...

How to set a background color in Crystal Reports XI

Hi, You don't need to use an image at all. Use the section expert to set a background colour for each report section as required. When you export to Excel, this background colour will be maintained. Cheers, Darran

Only see instances of the user scheduling the report

Sorry, I'm new to BO so only know about XI. Anyone else?

Only see instances of the user scheduling the report

Yes, We use this functionality in a particular folder where users can schedule reports on demand - each user only sees their own instance(s). You have to set Advanced permissions on the folder or individual report as required. Let me know if you need more detailed info. Cheers, Darran

    Crosstab, SubReport or Other Approach?

LB, I hadn't thought of doing it that way - not sure which involves less work. I used product as the row field, rep as the column with the specified ordering as above (after applying a topN). I created a function to show product code and name and summarised on this (nth most frequent : n=1)...

    Crosstab, SubReport or Other Approach?

Ido, I've played around with this but can't see how I can possibly show the data in any meaningful fashion. I tried a horizontal bar chart (standard as well as stacked types) and showed sum of units sold on change of rep and product line, with the top 10 group sort on product line. It didn't...

    Crosstab, SubReport or Other Approach?

Ido, I hadn't thought of using a graph, but unfortunately this would take up too much page space - the sales manager definitely wants a summary table so all info can be seen at a glance.

    Crosstab, SubReport or Other Approach?

LB, I've checked with the sales manager and there will be 9 reps at the meeting.

    Crosstab, SubReport or Other Approach?

Ido, The problem with that is each sub-report would have to be maintained individually and set to produce data for one rep at a time - I have done a similar thing with placing cross-tabs side by side for a similar effect but then I only had 4 columns of data to product whereas in this instance...

    Crosstab, SubReport or Other Approach?

Sorry Madawc, but I don't think I fully understand. I created a formula combining rep and line, but can't see how I can use that to get a cross tab grid as per the above. What exactly are you intending to be in the row and column sections (and I assume sum of units in the summary)? Darran

    Crosstab, SubReport or Other Approach?

Ido, I already know about the Top N group sort and have used it in the past. The problem I have is showing different Product Lines for each sales rep - a standard cross tab will give me the same lines for each rep which is not what the manager wants. Darran

    Crosstab, SubReport or Other Approach?

Hi, I'm using CR XI Developer. I'm producing reports for a sales meeting next week and need to achieve the following: This report is to show top 10 product lines per sales rep along with number of units sold. The sales manager wants a table looking like: Rep Name 1 Rep Name 2 Rep...

Request could not be submitted for background processing

What database are you using for the Central Management Server (if CE9 works in this way), and is there any chance some limit could have been reached on it? (either filesize of DB, or number of objects?) Cheers, Darran

openldap configuration CR XI Reports Server

You need a group set up in your ldap settings - we created a "crystal" group for users who would be accessing crystal. You then need to add this group to Crystal - in the Home->Authentication->LDAP section, add the group name (and just the group name, not cn=<group> or dn=<group>) in the Mapped...
