yeah i know all that thanks for the help though..... I think it might have some hing to do with the firmware chip our vendor sent me 3 ore boards and they all work fine of couse i did make them test them on the same system i am using so......other than the firmware chip i cannot think of...

i have an 8 port fibre channel SAN switch by compaq. when i connect a serial cable and power the thing up it takes me to the prompt <VxBoot> or something like that. and when i try to boot with the @ command it fails and says i need to enter a valid ethernet address everything i try to enter...
