Have ever opened a HDD???How to make the main engine spin?

Hi, Well if you mean that when you power up your computer the HDD doesn't power up (spin), one thing you can try is to gently tap the side of the HDD when pówer is on. Sometimes HDD's "dry out" if they sit too long, but don't try to open the drive, as this will pretty much render it...

    windows startup and CD sound

Hi Steve, Let's start with your 2nd question first...you can do one of two things, you could physically disconnect the lead from the back of the cd-rom to the sound card, but by doing that, you would have to reconnect it if at some point you wanted to listen to music cd's through your speakers...

Disable Cancel buttom on Win 95 Windows Logon

Hi, I suppose one would have to ask why you would want to disable the cancel button? Wouldn't it make more sense to eliminate the Windows password screen entirely? (or are there more than 1 user using the computer?) Californiakid

Not important, just a question on game controllers

Hi, Not to biased towards Microsoft products, but I use a MS Sidewinder Dual Strike and it works flawlessly (USB model). I've also used MS Sidewinder gamepads in the past and they worked just fine and fit your hands comfortably for game playing. Terry

Hi, The settings for what you want are located in the browser preference settings, not the antivirus programs, although it is ALWAYS a smart idea to scan the files you download before you open them. If you use Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options and click on the Security Settings...

    Boot problems including "divide overflow"

How old is your computer? It sounds as though the backup battery isn't keeping the CMOS settings after it's shut down. Worth trying (replacing the backup battery)... Terry

Rebuild from Junk Box, want boot

You don't say what speed the processor is, but guessing at the error I would say either a 350mHz or faster. Windows 95 and 98 have a problem with certain AMD K-6 processors, and a "fix" is listed on Microsoft's web. Here's what I found...

    How To - Outlook Express

Hi, Probably the easiest way is to open Internet Explorer, then open tools -> internet options tab -> programs. Near the bottom of that screen is a check box for "Internet Explorer should check to see if it the default"...put a check in the box, close and restart I.E. and it should...

    Check cpu temperature

No such program exists (that I've ever heard of anyway). If your MB isn't equipped with a CPU temperature sensor then it isn't an option. It's possible that there are "aftermarket" sensors out there, but you'll have to check around.

Moving hard drive to New System

Hi Roger, Just thought I'd put in my "two cents"... I would suggest that you back up the HDD (files you want to keep etc.) Then re-format and do a "clean install" of the OS and programs. The main problem with changing the drive to another system is that "detects&quot...
