Mac people likes to make things simple.
Hey folk do this.
You gotta plumb the interface to make it work!!
Enable TCP/IP stream to that interface.
# ifconfig hme0:1 plumb
# ifconfig hme0:1 192.168.2.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
# ifconfig -a
Viola! To make it appear, follow the gentleman above...
hmmm....use fsck -y /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0 or whatever u installed the boot partition to avoid a long series of prompting and questioning.....gee..
if the partition is screwed,
run # installboot /usr/platform/`uname -i` /lib/fs/ufs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0
This will make your disk...
Down the interface
# ifconfig hme0 plumb
Enable DHCP on your interface
#ifconfig hme0 dhcp
if you rx error messages regarding timeout,
check the DHCP server.
Check the dhcp status
#ifconfig hme0 dhcp status
you also need tp create
/etc/hostname.interface
/etc/dhcp.interface
Goodluck!
# ps -ef | grep sendmail
if sendmail is running, check sendmail.cf and look for
DS=yourmailer@domain.com
This is your relay mail server if you using a relay to send mail else leave it empty for direct sending.
# echo "test" | /usr/lib/sendmail -v id@domain.com
