Are you running an incremental or full backup?... or a synthetic full?... If its a synthetic full and it can't see the last full backup and subsequent incrementals it might not be bale to do a new backup. Armchair Jedi ~ So dense light bends around him ;-)

As it turns out - we had E-trust AV real-time scanning running on our Commserve which is where the shared index cache was living. We've disabled that and now it appears to be fine. Armchair Jedi ~ So dense light bends around him ;-)

Also beware of file search options that allow to search offline/tapes... i saw someone do it once with windows basic earch and it immediatly went through poking all the stub files and treid to restore the whole of the migrated data. Armchair Jedi ~ So dense light bends around him ;-)

When you say the tapes are bad... do you mean you're getting hardwrare errors and its only writing say a few GB to a tape that should hold 200gb and then marking it full and moving onto another tape?. We had that problem, which of course meant that with multiple streams running it woudl used...
