    how to stop services remotely on XP machine?

    I don't think so you can stop services remotely with your existing laptop credentials as it's not a part of your domain at home. You will have to join your laptop to your domain at home and then you should be able to login to your laptop as a domain admin and do what ever you want to do.

    Did you try to set the Auto play option from the drives properties menu? If not try to set it to take no action or whatever action you want the drive to take when connected.
