Have created a header made up of several graphics in Fireworks MX and added pop up menus. When I edit the menu in FW and export it to DW MX it is not updating templates that include this graphic/pop-up menu. Must be doing something wrong or is a 3rd party pop-up menu builder a better option ??
Okay... visited this customer today and found that the problem was the mouse. When I loaded XP originally ..I had a PS/2 mouse hooked up but unbeknown to me ... she was using a Serial mouse attached to COM1. So the result of doing this is worth remembering for the future. Thanks all for your...
Thanks for the suggestion but the HDD is in NTFS Format and that particular file is just under 2MB. But that aside if the file is really missing why would the system boot at my place?
Loaded XP onto a new empty 40GB HDD. No problems with installation and all running well. Person I was doing it for picked up the system then rang to say it would not boot into Windows XP saying that system32/ntoskrnl.exe file was missing. They tried several times but it would not load. Retrieved...
Thanks wunkun .. I replaced the Hard Drive and the problem remained. I fixed the problem by replacing the motherboard so i guess the fault was on there ..somewhere!!
Thanks for everyones input
A lot of the new PC133 SDRAM is not recognised correctly by some motherboards although the newer ones are usually ok. Generally it shows up as only half what is actually installed. Sometimes of course it is just a faulty piece of RAM. Try another piece.
The locking up occurs before windows has completed its installation .. you can actually use F8 and it will try and get into safe mode but hangs up before getting there.
keyboard change has no effect
Thanks for your replies
Need some thoughts on this one !! ... Decided to change a Soltek 65me mainboard running a Celeron 700 because the keyboard was not being recognised and appeared to be a controller ic failure. Apart from the keyboard everything else was fine. Replaced with an Aopen mx36xle ..reformatted HDD &...
Seems like hardware if it is random .. I would consider memory and power pack first suspects ... try substituting with known good hardware if you have it available

gargouille,
That fix worked thanks - so somewhere along the line I must have used a cleaner. And Linney, there was no error message, the Help screens just wouldn't come up
Thanks...I tried the repair option but that has'nt helped.
Originally I was using 5.5 but upgraded to 6 to see if that would fix it.
Unfortunately, the error occurs on both versions
Trying to locate what might be causing a repetitive exception error that occurs only when online using MS Internet 5.5 or 6. No specific program seems to trigger the problem.
error number is
oe0028c002cefa called from 0028C183781 ... this same response occurs on each occasion
If the suggestions the others have made don't work look carefully at the CPU for any chipping - usually caused when fitting the heatsink. This damage causes serious overheating.
