Thanks for the input! -Chris

    PSSP Disaster Recovery

Hello, there is no HA environment within the PSSP complex, so at least I don't have to worry about that yet. For some odd reason, the Admin(s) prior to my arrival here, wanted to purchase the second F50, have it "managed" by the current CWS, yet leave it as a "standalone" server, in other words...

    PSSP Disaster Recovery

The second F50 was acquired to be the backup node for the prod nodes, via the ethernet connection, using ADSM, then spitting it out to tape. <sigh> The powers that be, wish to use the second F50 as a backup and DR for the nodes, using ADSM. Sounds like a nightmare...at least in a SP scenario...

    PSSP Disaster Recovery

Hello, I have an SP Frame running PSSP v3.4 with 6 Winterhawk Nodes. I want to use an F50 as a Disaster Recovery machine and back the nodes up over ethernet, rather than the SP switch. AND, have the DR F50 seen\"managed" by the current CWS. Management doesn't want us to put an unknown load on...

    AIX Disk Upgrade

Hello, I'm trying to help out my colleague who is trying to upgrade a M80 from 4.3.0 to AIX 5.2, from a 9.1 gig disk to a 18.2 gig disk. He did his mksysb with the default 1016 pp size instead of the 2032 size. Can I just have him recreate his mksysb with the 2032 pp size, then try to upgrade...

Cannot see drives via fiber on a M80

Hello, I have an M80 running 5.2.0.0 connected to a 3542 2Ru Fiber drive disk array through a 6228 fiber card adapter...and I am unable to see the drives. I checked my *.rte and devices for the fc* filesets and they appear to be there. There are a number of errors within the errpt, but...

    WIpe out SUN disks

This works great, although it takes some time, there is nothing left on the disk, that is readable. Thanks much! -Chris

    WIpe out SUN disks

Thanks for the info. I was wondering this: Does newfs destroy the data within the blocks or does it just destroy the header information? Since the information is sensitive, we do not want any third party using an application to string the application data blocks back together to read the info...

    WIpe out SUN disks

Hello, What is the best way to wipe a SUN disk clean so it cannot be accessed again? I have a client who wishes to blow away the data on his drives, before it goes back to SUN, so when it is resold, the data will not be accessed "accidentally". Is there a script somewhere or one of...

    Replacing an SSA Drive

What are the general steps in replacing an SSA drive, which resides in an external 4 bay disk cage (like a D40). The system is running AIX 4.3.3. This SSA disk is running application data and not the rootvg. ANy help would be appreciated. Thanks -Chris

    Sun Solaris:Finding FRU information

Thanks gang...I've used both prtconf and prtdiag, just hoping there was something a little more verbose, for older hardware configuarations, like the prtfru command. Thanks again!!

    Sun Solaris:Finding FRU information

Hello, Can someone direct me to the command to find the FRU information for physical hardware installed within a SUN machine? For example, AIX users type lscfg -vp sys0, which returns all hardware devices with FRU's. Thanks!

Losing default gateway on an F150 (AIX)

Well my friend, I gave this a try and I still lose the default gateway after each re-boot. However, there is only one entry within the ODM for the gateway now, so that is much cleaner. I think this box has a mind of its own...
