We looked at that toolkit as an option in the beginning but for a reason I can't remember be decided it would not work for us in this case... plus the master copy is almost ready to go, I just need to fine tune this minor IE issue.
Thank you for your suggestion but I think I will keep looking...
The problem I have is... If I setup a service to launch Internet Explorer upon bootup it seems to load IE before the group policies take affect to restrict users access to IE's control panels. Basically when the first IE window opens a user can get access to all the IE control panels. If I close...
My work uses a 100% Cisco network. My department needs to temporarily use up to 48ports off of a switch for a small project but due to how long it takes for the corporate paperwork to go through it looks like we won’t get a switch in time for our project…. so I went to the networking group and...
What exactly is "granular rate-limiting" and/or "rate-limiting"? Whats the difference between the two and can they do the bandwidth limiting that I need on Cisco 3500 series switches?
Can a Cisco Layer3 switch such as a 3550 control bandwidth per port or per IP (either or) in any way? I have been told that QoS can do this but when I read up it sounds like you can only prioritize data, not limit it per port or ip.
If QoS or a Cisco 3550 can NOT do this, is there a CISCO...
This is more of a PIX question... I had a difficult time finding the proper forum for this question so I am posting it here.
Can I use two ports on a Cisco PIX 515 and set them up for HSRP to my co-lo's 6500's?
As a secondary question; can I do the same thing with a 3600 or equivalant router...
This clears up why I never see routers at large LANs that use 5500 or 6500 switches! I don't know much about intervlan routing *yet* but at least now I know where to start! Thanks a ton.... something tells me this is the answer I was looking for!
So how many people do you think one VLAN should...
I am looking into hosting a 1000+ Person LAN in the distant future using mainly Cisco 5500 Switches. One of my concerns is if I will need to incorperate a Router into the network?
With 1000+ players won't the network overhead of all the TCP/IP broadcasts be heafty? Will I need to use a Router...
So a Cisco 2924XL can not have two different sets of IP's that use two different networks?
I am given 2 IP groups from my co-lo such as:
68.39.245.4-14
and
69.58.6.132-158
I can't use all of these at the same time with this swtich? Will I need two individual switches to do this? Right now a...
I have recently come into the ownership of a Cisco 5513 switch and was wondering if the backplane limitations make this switch to old to throw a large LAN party with? How many players could this switch handle do you think? 100, 150, 200+ ???
Would grouping team players together on the same...
Thanks for the info :)
One more question....
If I have two completly different sets of IP address each with their own Gateway IP's, how can I assign two different gateways to one Cisco 2924 switch? By using VLANs?
Sorry for the dumb questions. It has been a while since I worked with these but...
Actualy let me ask the question thats confusing me which might clear this up a bit....
You say to "point your default gateway to the virtual hsrp address". Does not HSRP use two connections to two seperate routers? Do both routers use the same "virtual hsrp address"? I just want to clear this...
Can someone either give me an example of a "virtual hsrp address" or point me in the right direction. I am having trouble finding any documentation on this one. Thank you in advance.... and Happy New Year :)
I understand only some of what you are saying... I do have a bachelors in administration which focused on a lot of Cisco but that was a couple years ago and I have never worked on Cisco in the field. Hmmmm ACL’s... it’s been a while... I guess I either have to read up ALOT or pay someone to set...
Actually.... when I paid them to set up the firewall I asked them to send me the console printout on what they did so I could take over after the initial setup and manage the PIX myself. Here is the firewall.txt file they sent me (note: I did replace my password, external IP address and...
The thing is, I only know Cisco routers and switches and even then not that well.... so I pay my co-location to configure and run my PIX 520. The PIX was only using a few Mbps of bandwidth with no more than a couple hundred players. The PIX was only blocking unused ports, its not even doing any...
