My work uses a 100% Cisco network. My department needs to temporarily use up to 48ports off of a switch for a small project but due to how long it takes for the corporate paperwork to go through it looks like we won’t get a switch in time for our project…. so I went to the networking group and spoke with them about me bringing in my own switch. They said that I could bring in any hob or switch but it could not be Cisco (for whatever reason). The problem is I only own Cisco equipment and would like to use a Cisco 5505 w/ a SupII.
My question is…. can I setup my 5505 so it looks and acts like a “bumb” switch or hub where other Cisco devices on the network don’t know it’s a Cisco device and only see it as a common switch (like a Netgear)? Can I turn off all Cisco broadcasts any anything else and identifies it on the network, and if so what would those be?
Thank you in advance for any feedback you might have
