Windows XP - Can't connect from other machines

Also, the reason I have to disable the Firewall/ICS service is because with it enabled, svchost continually eats up one of my two processor cores. Yes, I should probably reinstall Windows...but what a pain. I'm trying to hold off until I build a new machine when Nehalem comes out.

Windows XP - Can't connect from other machines

I have actually resolved this. A while back, I had disabled the Windows Firewall / ICS service. So I re-enabled it, disabled our AD policy for the firewall settings, rebooted, re-enabled the policy, rebooted, and turned off the service again....somehow...*poof*...I can once again connect to my...

Windows XP - Can't connect from other machines

I just started having this issue where I can't connect to my workstation from any other box -- RDP, file shares, PING....nothing Wireshark shows incoming SYN requests, but that's it. I have no problems RDPing to other machines or connecting to file shares etc. Updated by NICs to the latest...

    Expansion slot for DL360 G4p full-length?

Could someone please verify if this server has a true full-length expansion slot available? That is, will it accomodate a card that is 31.2cm long? Thanks very much.

    Problem routing through gateway

I would like to route messages that come from the outside to a gateway address. For example, when someone sends a message to alarms@mycompany.com, the message should be routed to [OCTELAN:1234] so the Exchange gateway that handles that address type can process the message. I have tried routing...

Can no longer receive fax messages

Here's something that used to work for us before yesterday, and I don't know what changed. Our fax server sends SMTP messages to our users by only specifying the sender address as "FACSys Fax Connector@". As I said, this always worked. Now, Exchange 2003 is rejecting the messages with the error...

Opening file share in new window with alternate credentials?

I would like to be able to open up a new window on a network file share (a DFS root specifically) and use alternate domain/username/password credentials that are entered by the user as part of the script. Is this possible? Thanks.

Can I upgrade to Windows Server 2003?

Patrick, Sorry for the confusion. I actually have Metaframe 1.8 Service Pack 2 (with FR1 installed). In this case, should I be entitled to an upgrade that supports Win2K3? Joe

Can I upgrade to Windows Server 2003?

Patrick, I had thought about ditching Citrix, but isn't the screen performance better (more efficient) with Citrix vs. Windows 2003? Do you know if FP3 is a billable upgrade? I see they have service packs 3 and 4 available on the web site, but this isn't the same thing, is it? Thanks! Joe

Can I upgrade to Windows Server 2003?

What will happen if I upgrade my existing Metaframe XP 1.8 FP2 server, running on Win2K, to Windows Server 2003? Will it work? Thanks.

    Limited to 10Mb/sec on 1711?

Yes, I know that 100Mbps will give you 8-9MB/sec. My point was that my personal workstation achieves that throughput, while the PC that's connected through the 1711 to our network gets only 1MB/sec maximum. I'm wondering how to enable full 100Mbps functionality through the 1711. The devices that...

    Limited to 10Mb/sec on 1711?

Nope. I just tested throughput on my machine, which is connected to this switch: 8-9MBytes/sec on average

    Limited to 10Mb/sec on 1711?

Nothing is set to 10. There are other devices connected to the same switch as the WAN side of the 1711, and they can transfer at 100MBit.

    Limited to 10Mb/sec on 1711?

I have been testing throughput on my 1711 router, and it seems to be limited to 10mb/sec. I've tried setting the "speed" parameter on the interfaces, but even if I force it to "100", file transferes are still locked at 10. Any ideas? Thanks.

Possible to use 1711 without NAT?

I would like to be able to use my 1711 router without NAT. Basically, I just want the device to route between two networks: 20.0.0.x on the inside and 10.0.0.x on the outside. I have no NAT rules, no static routes configured; just VLAN1. I am able to communicate fully from the 10.0.0.x network...

    How to Configure NAT?

I was on the phone with a Cisco tech for about 2 hours. You know what the problem finally turned out to be? Proxy ARP had to be turned on for both interfaces. Once that was done, everything worked perfectly. I don't pretend to understand why this setting is necessary. Thanks again for your...

    Outlook 2003 starts very slow

It may be that Outlook 2003 requires that you use Cached Mode to get the kind of performance you were used to having.

    Problems with Outlook 2003

I'm running Outlook 2003, and I'm having a lot of strange problems. Here's a rundown: 1. I cannot add a personal folder file. When I try to do so, the only thing that shows up in the selection of storage types is "Microsoft Exchange Server" 2. If I try to add another mail profile, I get the...
