Illustrator will NOT going to trace it for you. Illustrator's trace tool is very limited. Most people use other tracing tools or programs (by "tracing", I mean autotracing). In illustrator you can use the pen tool and manually trace over the image, if that's what you meant.
First of all, are you on Windows or Mac? What OS? I dunno if there's such a thing as a "font file" on the Mac, but there's no "font file" on the PC to "add to". There is a font folder you can add to.

Sorry, that's almost good! Before you do step 9, you have to edit your vertical blend spacing, by double clicking the blend tool, and setting the vertical distance divisions/spacings in such a way that they will exactly cross the 30 degree lines. If you have "Snap to grids" on, it's easy.
