can't boot the first time, must reset

The best way to be sure if this is a video card issue would be to remove your video card and replace it with a new, if even inexpensive video card. Before that you may want to re-install the most recent drivers for your video card. Because it may also be a temperature issue verify that your...

    CD-ROM drive issues? Door stuck!

Could anyone tell me where to find a good troubleshooting guide for CD-ROM drives? I'm having trouble with mine, the door does not seem to want to close on it's own, perhaps something is stuck or gears have become misaligned. Any help would be appreciated.

Static with AOL logoff. hardware issue or gas problem?

OK, I'm running AOL 8.0 with a cable modem and windows XP and logitech 4.1 speakers. Whenever I log off of AOL and its says "goodbye", this is immediately followed by a short burst of static. This does not happen if I happen to be playing something in winamp for example, only if I...

    format 80g hdd

Same thing happened to me in the past. Misread a 80 Gig HD when partitioning. Not to worry, If creating multiple partitions just dictate the size as a percentage of total disk space. If not, just format 100% of disk normally. It will read correctly (well very close with FAT32) once OS is loaded.

Printing to two printers from a single computer

I would think you would have to choose wich printer to print to when selecting file, print. As opposed to hitting a print icon, wich would go directly to the default printer. I did not know you could set different default printers for different applications, is this true?

    modem mouse mess up

Agree with the above, you need to either reassign the COMs or simply just the IRQ on one of the devices. Is the modem internal and external? What connection type does your mouse use? Also helpful to know what operating system you are using to give you a detailed walk though how to fix this.

    15 min to boot?

I had a similar problem in the past. After much troubleshooting, replacing the CMOS battery was what worked. Evidently the battery was losing its charge after being unpowered for an exteded time, like over the weekend. You can get one of these at radioshack. They're not very expensive and alot...

hard drive light on, spins up, no signal to monitor or keyboard

Was this system working before, if so what have you changed? New HD? If your not getting any signal to your monitor you may have a video card issue, perhaps reseating and checking cables.

Now you see it...now you dont

Are you using Add Hardware wizard to add new devices? This may be helpful when installing to avoid resource conflicts.

    floppy drive problems

It may also be possible that you have the floppy drive power cable upside down. This could be indicated by a constantly on floppy drive LED.
