Cacruz,
We are having backup speed issues. We notice that when we updated to SP2 our backup performance got slower. We still have a Brightstor installation that is still SP1 and it runs great. Any ideas what it could be outside of going to SP2. Nothing in the Network has changed.
Anyone running Brighstor 11.5 SP2 in a Large Network with 400 servers or more? We are having some performance issues since upgrading from 11.5 SP1 to 11.5 SP2. Any information would be greatly appreciated. If possible, can you tell me the size of your netwotk. Thanks.
BETuser,
Thanks for the info. I think most of our newtork servers has been upgraded and checked. Can I ask "How many servers are in your network"? Also have you ever seen a message on Brightstor "Lost connection to agent". We have some servers that are clustered with 16 shared disks that we are...

Does the 5026 library have 2 - 13 slot magazines? Have you loaded the SDLT drivers from the manufacture of the drive? Quantum I believe makes the SDLT. I know you have to load a driver for the individual tape drives. If you have not done so, I would recommend doing this. Check with Compaq/HP...
Problem may be with the use of GUID. I have seen problems with changing out tape drives when they go bad and all of a sudden you have problems writing to the new tape drive. Advise checking out Veritas web site and look up the issue about changing out tape drives. I remember a tech bulletin on...
I have used the Compaq MDR in a SAN setup and don't recall needing drivers for the backups. Compaq does have a utility that updates the firmware in their tape libraries and tape drives. I have used the MDR in both a Winnt and W2K environment. What type of problem are you having?
I agree with Zoeythecat. Arcserve2000 is worst than Backup Exec. All backup software have their short commings. Its just some are more problematic than others. I like Legato and Backup Exec. Arcserve leaves much to be desire! It is not user friendly.
Is anyone using BE 8.6 to backup Netware 6 clusters? BE is backing up files on an NSS volume in uncompress mode and then not compressing it back once it has finished backing up the file. This process keeps the file in uncompress size and then waits for Netware to compress it again at a later...
I've seen this problem with our backups also. Still trying to figure it out. We have been working on it for about 6 months now. Check your event viewer and let me if you get some kind of error message like bug check 0x....... Thanks
Ok,
Here's the scoop. Its a bug within the Legato BSM for Exchange. I have talked with Legato Engineering and they are aware of this problem. Although you may see the message "Restore in Progress" there are none going on. If it was, your Information Store would be brouught down to...
Ag100,
That sounds good but what do you do when your Messaging group has verified that there are no "restore in progress" keys to delete? We are seeing this on 3 Exchange servers intermittently. I have a ticket opened with Legato. I will update this thread as soon as I find out the...
Thanks for the update. I am most curious about this problem. Our third party support company has sent the information off to Legato and they say to open up a ticket with Microsoft. Sounds like finger pointing to me. If this is a known issue with Microsoft and it can be documented, Great!!!!
Can you reference the Article ID or words you used to find the information? The Exchange group where I work at has been unable to find any information. Thanks.
I've seen this message before on my exchange system but can't recall what fixed it. The error message numbers(-939589628 (0xc7ff0004)) can be checked at Microsoft's website. Do a search on the errors. Also check with your Exchange admins and perhaps they maybe of help. Check to make sure your...
Working with Legato Networker 6.0.2 and Exchange 5.5 on a Windows 2000 server. Am using the Legato BSM for Exchange 2.0 SP4. Setup mailbox backup for 35 mailboxes. All was fine for about 3 months, then of a sudden, a few had problems backing up. They would not always be the same mailbox and...
Just an update. I'm still working on rebuilding the original backup server. I'm having some problems with the secondary backup server. We'll keep you posted.
