Applicaitons can not create startup short cuts

I was able to create text files (by right clicking and selecting New-Text Document) in C:\Users\Rick\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu and in C:\Users\Rick\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs, as well as C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. Are you...

Applicaitons can not create startup short cuts

Thanks, but I tried the run as administrator option from that menu, with identical results. I assume that is because I am logged in as an admin.already, and that option is designed for use when an admin. is not logged in, but has credentials to use when needed.

Applicaitons can not create startup short cuts

Many of the applications I install on Win7 64-bit, Home Premium cannot create shortcuts in various locations to include the application folder under c:\Program Files (x86), along with the Start Menu folder. I end up with the program installed, but with errors about not having rights to create...

Add or Remove Programs Option Not Displayed

When I open the Add or Remove Programs applet in Control Panel, each program is listed, but the option to add/remove is not displayed. Double clicking the program entries does nothing. Any help on this weird one would be greatly appreciated!

    Upgrade SBS RAID 5

Thanks SkreeM. Trying to avoid new drive letters and moving programs or data folders around so users do not have to adapt to new enviornment. I assume additional NAS requires additonal drive letter.

Log On To List Needs Server for RWW Logon

Thanks Danny. That is a relief.

Log On To List Needs Server for RWW Logon

Danny, if I remove the server from the list, I get the bad user name or password error. If I include the server in the list I get a successful RWW logon. I have tried it with multiple users. What do think is up with that? I definintely do NOT want to include the server in the list. By the way...

Log On To List Needs Server for RWW Logon

I have recently set up Remote Web Workplace, and want to limit user logons to only their computers. I am using the Log On To feature of the Account Tab in the User Properties of AD. If I do not include the server in the list, users are unable to log into RWW. Without the server in the list, bad...

    Limit RWW Client Computer Logons

Thanks again Mark, and forgive me if I am not articulating this very well, but I have found that I MUST include the server in the Log On To list or RWW does not allow logon and report bad user name or password. If I add the server, the logon is successfull, and the user is then able to proceed...

    Limit RWW Client Computer Logons

Mark: Thank you for elaborating. Your level of sophistication is impressive, and I greatly appreciate the lesson. I believe I am simply going to use the Log On To method. Any insights into why I have to add the server name to the Log On To list? Do you see any reason that this is not a viable...

    Limit RWW Client Computer Logons

marcdmac, do you mean the RWW users group in AD? If so, adding this membership to a user allows him to access RWW, but he is still presented witih a list of all domain clients, and can log into any of them unless he is otherwise restriced.

    Limit RWW Client Computer Logons

Thanks to both of you. As regards Dannny28, if I do not include the server in the Log On To list the user is unable to log into RWW. RWW states the user name or password is incorrect. If I then addd the server name to the list, the user is able to log into RWW. I was surprised I had to add the...

    Limit RWW Client Computer Logons

Just started with Remote Web Workplace (RWW). When a non-admin. user logs in and choses to "Connect to my computer at work", he is then prsented with a list of all the client computers in the domain. At present users can log in to any computer at the office, but I want to limit them to only...

    Backup Solution of SBS

What backup solution is preferred by SBS administrators? I have been using Backup Exec. Is the backup that comes with Win SBS 2003 inferior, superior?

Activate RWW and Sharepoint Intranet Site

Remote Web Workplace and the Sharepoint Intranet site were not installed as part of the original install of SBS a few years ago, at least they do not work at all. How do I verify they are installed or not. If they are not, how do I go about installing these features? Thanks very much for the help.

    Upgrade SBS RAID 5

Thanks markdmac, replacing my controller with one with larger capacity, buying larger drives and doing the very safe swap you suggest sounds like the route I will pursue. You have been very helpful on this and other threads, so thanks very much for your valuable time.

Updates for SBS same as Windows Server

Mark, you hit it right on the head. I did not know there was a SP1 for SBS and also one for Windows Server 2003. Actually, we applied SBS SP1 only a couple months ago. Having applied a service pack specific to SBS, I thought that only service packs specifically designed for SBS would apply...

    Upgrade SBS RAID 5

Thanks to both of you for the sound advice. IWcomputing, both drives (C & D partions on the RAID 5 array that consists of 4-72 gig drives, or 280 gigs of space) are filling up. Would you mind sharing with me the specific hardware you used for your external RAID 5 solution? Any problem with the...

    Upgrade SBS RAID 5

I have run out of room on my RAID 5 array on my SBS 2003. I wish I could install larger hard drive to increase capacity, but my IT firm says I may as well buy another server. I know I can only have one DC, do not want another server, as there is no CPU or I/O challenge to the existing server...
